Here is that "invoice" again for something which you haven't bought yet! This is why they wouldn't let me do a transfer.

What kind of document would show that your money has come from savings built up whilst working in the UK?

What?

"What kind of document would show that your money has come from savings built up whilst working in the UK?"

No idea, you tell me, they're not asking for that.  BBL are not asking for docs proving savings in UK, they are asking for evidence that the money you want to transfer out was earned here!

Nobody is right or wrong, the way "rules" are applied varies from bank to bank and branch to branch.

Bangkok Bank is known to be friendly when it comes to outward TT's (even over the counter - no account open). Applies to Silom HQ only.

Having said that, I got almost refused one time by the branch in Siam Paragon of Bangkok Bank, and I had to have arguments with the staff, telling them I came there since I did not want to queue in Silom (which was true). For a mere 1,000 dollar payment for a bill to Hong Kong.

It's always been like this, easy to come into Thailand, hard to get it out.

I have lived here for years, always supported Thai customs, and have never been arrested. It is difficult to understand why the Thai government is taking this position.

I simpathise greatly with you but I have to say that the generalissimo went on television and commented greatly on this which stated his position as a total RACIST.

He vehemently called us ALIENS completely disregarding that we are ALL humans, Aliens when they arrive here will Come from another planet and there is nothing to say that they will look anything like us or will indeed be Human, but this means nothing to this usurper of freedom

Thais should not marry farang that’s why the village headman makes it difficult to any requests, he also said the wives of farang should not go to the country of the husband, Why? Because he knows they will be educated and that is the last thing his ilk wants and why he said on teivision that teachers must not teach children to think outside of the box, Dumb them down in other words

It was plain to see that he thinks Thai must not be educated because if they are the control over the population is lost, and that must never happen.

"Alien" means *non Thai" , rather than from another planet

I am just curious, what does it means "whilst I toss you off"- does it means "I wvnk you off"- i never heard this expression "I toss you off". Was she doing a h job for you?

It's a delightful expression of yore and means exactly what you surmise. You may be familiar with the more oft-used noun, tosser.

I'm impressed by the masseuse's choice of the word "whilst", which points back at a decent education.

We're welcomed with open arms, as long as we're carrying a plentiful supply of Solari, Cubits, or Gold-pressed Latinum.

My experience a couple years back was that English was spoken by personnel selling tickets in Penang and KL.

This was when the train ran direct to Bangkok from Penang (just get off to get stamped out/in), so I did not have to buy a ticket on the Thai side - but would be surprised if they could not decipher "ticket Bangkok" in English.

I was trying to figure out the class of ticket. The sleeper cars were empty but the conductor escorted me to the end of the train. The last car was wooden with no air con, the windows were up and it was so full that the aisle was full of people standing. Because of the chilly air con of the great KL train I was wearing a heavy shirt and jeans and started sweating bullets. I went into the toilet (it was a squat toilet) and changed to a T and shorts.

I decided to leave the train after it crossed the border and went to the ferry to Samui (a very interesting story). I didn't think I would last until BKK. It was slow.

There are different ethnicities in Malaysia. Usually the ethnic Chinese would speak better English than the Malays.

If you find that you can't buy any train tickets from their booth, you can always go to a Chinese operated shops to buy the tickets or buy it online, their website is also in English.

Thanks. I spoke to some Indians who were in some kind of booth to the side in the station. Their opinion of the communicating abilities of the Malays was funny.

Yes lol.

I just spent a month in Malaysia and 95% of the people I talked to spoke FLUENT English.

That beautiful old train station has been replaced with a new modern Sentral Station replete with a huge shopping mall and all signage in English/Malay.

All ticket machines have

English language option. Trains make announcements in both English and Malay.

Everyone I talked to understood me.

English is common and everywhere in KL, Penang, Butterworth from my first-hand experience.

The modernity sounds good but the old train station was beautiful. I fantasied it was from Elizabethan times. Not sure.

I didn't go to BW but I went to Georgetown. An amazing Hindu festival in the mountains. Hundreds of thousands?

The second time i went to Thailand my agent told me to fly Air Malaysia which was actually very good. He also told me to miss my connecting flight and take the train and see the country. After 5 days I showed up at an Air Malaysia office and the lady wanted to know what happened. Thank goodness it was near closing time. She gave me an onward ticked to get rid of me.
