Weeks before her death, 23-year-old Olympic cyclist Kelly Catlin told her sister that she was struggling.

“On the phone she went back and forth from saying she was learning to appreciate things and enjoy life to saying if things didn’t change in a month, she was probably still going to kill herself,” Christine Catlin, 23, tells PEOPLE of her sister.

“This was only two weeks ago. I thought we had more time. My last words to her were, ‘Please don’t kill yourself.’ “

Kelly, who helped the U.S. women’s pursuit team win the silver medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, died on Friday in her Stanford University dorm room in California.

People should never underestimate concussion and TBI. My son was, to all that knew him, well balanced and in control. Then he was knocked off his m'bike, thankfully wearing a good helmet, but he landed on his head. He was in ICU for 5 days and came out of hospital after 10 days with all the symptoms this young woman had. We never leave him long on his own and phone him often. Its now 3 years and he has not recovered fully. Anxiety, depression and severe mood changes often result from traumatic brain injuries. My sympathy goes to her family and friends, its a terrible tragedy.

According to the article she had a concussion.

No wonder.

I am not a mental health professional who has years of experience dealing with such cases. I never met this lady, nor do I know anything about her history, other than a news article. The psuedo-conclusion you present is seemingly without merit.
