Grandmother savaged to death by family's own pit bulls

A daughter and her family returned home to find that her mother had been attacked by the family's six pit bull terriers. 

 

"Iat", aged 75, was lying in a pool of blood outside the house in Son Loi sub-district of Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi.

 

She had been completely savaged suffering dozens of bites and cuts and was already dead. 

 

The family's six pit bull terriers were put back in their cage and the police were called. 

 

Sanook reported that the old lady was home alone with the dogs while her daughter, son-in-law and child were out.

 

Police said it looked like the dogs were stressed out in the heat or were affected by some scent or other. 

 

No mention was made of what happened to the dogs - if anything.

Where's the pics? Naming the dogs as Pitbulls without showing proof of breed is plain wrong. Over 20 breeds are misidentified as being Pitbulls.

not sure if the breed should be banned - but keeping 6 of them together is utterly irresponsible.

It should be made sure that the owner is qualified (I mean really qualified, not the Thai way qualificatioin). And not more than one dog.

I think the old lady wouldn't care if her killers were pitbulls or another breed

Cue the doggy lover with my pitties would not hurt a fly BS, these dogs are all killers when in the mood and they get a chance

I have an American Pitbull Terrier. The only time it's hurt anyone is when the wagging tail hits a shin. 

 

I don't know the details of this story but I do know that many Thais have no idea how to handle dogs. We had a farming family living in a shack on our land for around 6 months (long story). The granny used to routinely come over to our house with a bamboo stick and hit the dogs for no reason, often in the heat of the day when they were sleeping. A couple of our dogs are quite aggressive with strangers (we inherited them as adult dogs with the purchase of the land and therefore did not raise them - we raised the Pitbull which has no human aggression whatsoever) and I often worried what would happen if the dogs finally got tired of this behaviour when we weren't around.

 

I'm not blaming the victim here as I don't know the background of what happened, just pointing out that you need all the facts before hysterically crying for all Pitbulls to be immediately killed. Blaming the breed is ridiculous. It's how they are raised.

Mine has never hurt anyone. Scared people yes due to the myths spread about the breed. I admit it will kill cats, or snakes, if they get into the garden but other than that...................

Why did the family have six dogs of any breed??

How well trained were the dogs?

How well were they looked after??

My limited experience says very few Thai owners of dogs walk them regularly, groom them, or take them for vet checks.

How fit was the woman to be in control; of six large dogs in the first place?

 

And there's me thinking they only eat nice fresh babies.poor woman it must be like slowly being killed by a pack of hyenas.

Ah, this old myth. The woman in question had decided to kill herself with pills. The devoted labrador was desperately trying to wake her up.

 

Pit bulls and other attack breeds were bred to have one of the strongest sets of jaw muscles and to hang on and rip flesh and not to have a docile nature. Can they make an excellent family pet? Absolutely yes when socialised and trained. However, when things go wrong with a pit bull, they go badly wrong, much worse than with other breeds.

I do remember though that Pitbulls are a banned breed in the UK, and apparently the police can take it away if you have one.

 

According the article below they were bred for fighting. Here's more info (dated 2016) regarding four banned breeds in the UK:

If she was asleep and her face was numb how did she know the dog tried to wake her? Why after trying to wake her did it suddenly changed it's mind and chewed her face off?

Well if they were later bred for fighting they were not the same breed as in victorian times?  Dogs come from wolves but to say the nature of your dog is the same temperament as a wolf would be silly.

You'd be suprised how easy it is to buy a Pit Bull in the UK, I know a few people in my small town that own them.

Obviously you do not know what a Pitbull is cuz they're banned in the UK. The dogs you know of are not Pitbulls. Quite a common occurrence from people who don't know dog breeds.

They named the victim as a grandmother without posting proof, is that also plain wrong in your mind or is it only pitbulls that need to be proven every time they are mentioned in the news?

It's safe to assume that these six dogs, just as yours hadn't, had not hurt anyone until this either!

I took it at face value. It was a woman victim. Same as I looked at it in that she was attacked by dogs.

You could safely say that about all dogs. And how do we know all 6 dogs took part in the attack. Probably just assumed that cuz 6 dogs were found at the scene.

There are hundreds of people around the world with dead Kids, relatives and friends who USED to say my pittie would not hurt anyone. They are illegal in several countries, and for a reason, they were bred for violence.
