I have often had someone with a few cows come and take care of a 3 rai block we have in exchange for letting the cows graze. Helps if you have a ready water source. 

cheers IsaanAussie...yes an arrangement such as the one you have would be great...the only trouble is that any local/informal dealing we have had so far has turned sour (they try and take over the land or see it as an invitation to extort $$$ hahahaha...well, NOT so funny actually!). One plan is to chat to the local farm machine distributor where we bought a brush cutter: just want a fixed price for reasonably good work done with no shenanigans on the side ???? Anyway, appreciate the reply, TM.
