Are the numbers supposed toad up then? The EC have given us lots of numbers to peruse over, no need to look to deeply so long as things don't change.

Now then I wonder what 9th of May will throw up? Will Jackie Chan-0-cha still be PM or ……………!?

We are both saying the same thing Rob, at 94% they counted 33 million votes, at 100% they counted 5 million more. Hence, they didn't really report votes at 94% but at a lower percentage. They suck at estimating their own counts.

Wikipedia is now listing the full results, seems the PTP coalition lost two seats, and is now at 253, at least Prayuth can not count on a majority in the lower house, great news.

Their numbers are all over the place, intentional or not. Its not the first time I seen the newspapers and Thai officialdom make many mistakes in what they report. It just does not add up.

Anyway still happy that Prayut has NO majority, I am anti PTP and anti junta.

But I am not against this anti junta coalition certainly not. I hope they can and will form a government. Prayut is at this moment more evil then the PTP.

Rumour mill has it that there are red cards at the ready for PTP (25), FFP (18) and just to ensure fairness PPRP (2). Hope this stay as rumour and not excite the citizens too much to do something about it.

That's a very good showing for FF, a new face in politics. Sliver of hope and I suspect thanks to the younger generations. Let's hope they push the dinosaurs to extinction.

Maybe they should red card the whole EC, and have a free and fair election instead.

Mistakes?

Had the shoe been on the other foot, had PTP been in power overseeing this farce, I'm not sure you'd be saying Thaksin has just, accidentally, made a few "mistakes".

Simple question - Thaksin won 5 previous elections, in your opinion, were any of those victories any where near as tarnished as this one for Prayuth?

Prayuth didn't win the election, PTP did, difference of 19 seats.

Pheu Thai came second with 7.9 million votes.

Over 2.1 million ballots or 5.5 per cent were deemed spoiled

A large proportion of them Pheu Thai votes, perhaps? If so, how convenient for Phalang Pracharat.

Well now, with the sudden interest and focus on the popular vote, I suppose that the Senate will feel duty bound to follow the will of the people.

Quite a clever fix really.

Best let sleeping dogs (spoilt ballots) lie. If they are looked at too closely they might not support the popular vote pronouncement...

Probably - but when you consider the earliest victory in 2001, they were far less open to public scrutiny and debate as social media was still in it infancy and people had far fewer options to speak publicly, openly and connect to each other through different forums and media - So we can speculate that probably yes, but we will never know - that has been buried very deep now.

For me I want to know who these 'good people' are that people keep referring too. I hope the Thai media push for names to be given - who are these good people?

"The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday released the general election results, saying the pro-junta Phalang Pracharat won the most votes at over 8.4 million"

"The turnout rate was 74.7 per cent. Of more than 51 million registered voters, 38.2 million took part in the election"

Which means about 78% of voters voted against the army regime. Not really winning the poplular vote!! 5555

Did they simply add a few more ballots that don't match with a registered voter ?

5 year olds can be enamored with a slug slithering up a tree. And tis means the parents probably are watching the slug slither too.

Oh boy, the figures don't add up with what they previously announced, the turnout at 94% was 65% now all of a sudden it went up with almost 10%.

I believe they were estimating as results were coming in????

Those who anti democracy and crave authoritarianism. Done.

Sorry Eric - We need names from the people in the army who are using the phrase 'good people'. Because if they are insinuating that the people who you name as good are good, then the people that oppose them must be bad - and surely that is defamation? Unless of course the army states that they are all good, which would be very odd, as it would suggest that anyone is okay...which does not seem to be the party line.
