Lodge your application during the last 30 days(March 12 would be a start)

Now, one should know the reason you chose for extension; business, support a Thai, a Thai wife, retirement etc. In any case present form TM 7 and documents specified on the link below. This link is not 100% upgraded. e.g. the fee is now Baht 1900 but it gives a rough idea.

If you apply now it will be approved on the spot if you qualify. You can get a re entry permit and leave Thailand if you wish.

I take it you did not get married then?

If you use the 800k bank deposit is needs 3 months in bank so if you have that there really is no reason not to do now. If it is pension also no reason not to do now. Assuming you are not making a trip in any case.

Last question first. As long as your Multiple Non-immirant O - VISA Is still valid you can travel in and out as you wish and will get 90 days permission to stay at each entry. The moment, however, you apply for extension, your visa and last permission to stay is cancelled and replaced by either the extension or a stamp saying that your application is under consideration and you should return in person on date so and so. Retirement-extensions are fairly easy and should be given on the spot, if all conditions are followed and all documents presented.

Generally, immigration wants you to apply for extension during the last 30 days of your 90-days permission.

You need to present

Application form TM 7

Passport and copies of passport (have to sign the copies)

passport picture

Baht 1900 application fee

Proof of your finances:

Either your bank pass book and a letter from the bank showing that you have a minimum of Baht 800,000 from abroad in that Thai bank for 3 months. Or a retirement pension of Baht 65,000 p.m., or a combination of these two.

Letter by your Embassy/Consulate in Thailand, that you wish to retire and confirming pension-income.

Hi

I'v just applied for a non Imm 'O' and in December wish to apply in Thailand to extend it for 12months due to retirement, so my situation is similar to poster. My query :D is when talking to Hull Consolate (UK) they gave me a 'tip' that I will need a Criminal Record Check from the UK for use in Thailand? :o and that it needs to be no older than 3 months? Since I leave England next month that will be difficult.

Any ideas if this 'tip' is correct. Thanks in advance

If you apply for an extension on the basis of retirement in Thailand, there is no need to for the criminal record. This record isonly needed if you apply for a retirement visa at a Thai Embassy before you leave. You will however need to show 800k in a bank account in Thaialnd for at least 3 months before your application for extension OR a letter from Embassy confirming pension/income of over 65k per month

Good luck

Axel, thanks a lot for your good, short and precise advice and list of items. Very useful for me too.

Do you need at immigration any confirmation of your current address in Thailand, e.g. rental contract, when applying for the 1 year extension?

Not 100% sure willi2006 but believe the address given in the application for is sufficient and application counts as well as first 90-days-report.
