Poll shows most Thai’s don’t believe new government can end political  divide

 

 

Most Thais believe the new government, be it led by the Palang Pracharat or Pheu Thai, will not be able to end political division or other protracted problems, according to a recent Suan Dusit Poll.

 

The poll shows 31.85% of the respondents believe that the political situation will worsen due to the lack of stability of the new government while 28.08% are more optimistic.

 

The opinion poll sampled 1,752 people across the country. About 48% are disappointed with the March 24th election results because they believe the election, handled by the Election Commission, was not transparent. The main concerns for 69.47% of the respondents are election irregularities.

• 44.99% are certain that water is wet, but 46.11% aren't sure
• 77.23% think women should not be allowed to vote, but 88.11% want to see another female PM
• 33.66% don't care about clean air, but 77.87% want the smog cleared
• 88.92% want a new election, but 88.91% are satisfied with the results

With social media now informing the citizens of whats really going on, and with TV-radio run by the military and its establishment losing its grip on information, the truth is finally getting through. Its no longer easy to fool all the people all the time. Savvy young people are getting information from all over the world and the days of force fed propaganda are over.

And 87.8531% of the voting males would like a daily erection with 93.53% of the voting women indicating they weren't that interested in the question.

Yes, but they will need to actively complain and passively dissent.   Most Thais I speak to having a cup of coffee are afraid to talk about politics, especially if the work in the media.   Having differing views than the boss can get you fired. 

 

Work with a guy who was a yellow in a red area.  He lost all faith in general cha cha when he did not fire he watch troll.  He is probably not enamored with his party either.    If you are Thai, you have more to cringe about than smile.

Using 1932 as a starting point:
87 years divided by 20 coup attempts equals 4.35 years between coups. So if Palang Pracharat and Pheu Thai and other minor parties can't see eye-to-eye, then Thailand and Thais are just about on schedule for another attitude adjustment compliments of the military.  Just saying from a purely logical perspective...

So then Thailand is now LOC (Land of Cringe).

According to some Thais whom I talk to, this is actually the case. But they used the word "embarrassed" (about the election).

At this stage, I think there is hope but some parties have to stop being enamoured with control and being on a winning side.

 

To me, the winner so far in this election is the BumJathai party. The Future Forward have sold their soul to Thaksin so they have removed any chance for people to work together nor will his party grow.  it will always now be called another party of Thaksin.

 

The solution to everything was simple and the Thai [people gave it to them.

 

The solution is a minority government.   I agree they do not last 4 years but imagine if PPP or PT had to make deals with other parties out in the open in order to get legislation passed.

 

Imagine if the Parties actually had to do what they said.

 

Future Forward and Bumjathai staying out of the coalitions would have made for an interesting time in the legislature.

 

It might even on some things make the PT and PPP work together to get some things passed.

 

 

As long as the Pheu Thai Party continues to insist they are going to be major players for the next four years, as long they are identified as nothing more than shils for Thaksin, as long as they continue to buy the votes of the ignorant masses in the North and Northeast there will be no peace and harmony. The running of the country will come to a halt and guess what?? That top Army General is just waiting for that to happen so another coup can once again at least get something accomplished.

Do you really think this to be true, that the people of Bangkok, Central and the South are somehow superior and better informed and educated? Have I missed the poll that determined corruption and the accumulation of wealth only happens in the North and North east? That top army general will maybe follow in the footsteps of his father and other infamous generals who somehow amassed huge fortunes from 'getting something accomplished'. Thaksin's supporters included top police, army and businessmen who all rode on his coattails hoping to gain financially from his corrupt success and recent pictures of a wedding party showed other famous faces. Thaksin's involvement has lasted 25 years but prior to that there was nothing but failure in the fight against corruption. There is certainly no evidence showing that military governance has been any improvement on civilian.

It depends would you consider as improvement. If you considered public safety and security and peacefulness then that has been a major improvement under the Junta's control without Thaksins thugs under Chalerms direction murdering and bombing innocent citizens and creating war zones on the streets of Bangkok. Economy is certainly up for debate but under the likes of thieves like the Shinawatra's the billions getting siphoned off into their personnel accounts and their stoogies fat pockets might get close back to covering the Junta's take and incompetence.

The political divide was deliberately created by the military and their cronies so that they would always have an excuse for a coup to safeguard their interests.

 

The primary interest is jobs for the boys, to continue the existence of a military top heavy with high ranking  but superfluous brass. More generals than are needed by most other armies. These oligarchs don't care for the country as a whole , only their own peer group which they regard as superior to all other citizens. They fear any civilian government that will reduce their number to a more reasonable level since it would also reduce their power , influence and wealth.

 

While this situation continues there will never ever be a repairing of the political divide which is their primary tool for keeping the country under their thumb.

 

Hot air and endless gassing will never change anything.

Neither would be an improvement.   Peace at any price is servitude.   You have pretty low standards for Thailand.  

 

Thaksin and his drop dead gorgeous sister were elected, while Prayuth is having a hard time doing the same.   Despite an incompetent election committee, the re drawing of electoral boundaries, frolicking all over Thailand on his "mobile cabinet meetings" and stacking the legislature with little men in green, his return to government house will not be easy if at all.  Thailand has had enough of him.

Agreed, maybe eyes are starting to open. The next step would be to do something about it but that seems to be a long way off.

I thought that the relaxation of the cannabis laws did not as yet apply to the ordinary citizen.
