Is it really possible to pay "more" to get your marriage one year extension without the papers hassle

Featured Replies

Hello

Is it rumors or is there really ways to get your one-year extension based on marriage with a Thai without having to get all the documents and passing by an agent to pay a much bigger sum of money but have it sorted out without any hassle or waiting time?

Thanks

As far as I know there is no way an agent can do the application with all the supporting documents since the final approval is done at the division headquarters level for the region of the country where you are living.

The most they can do is provide the 400k baht to the application. I have seen reports of an agent quoting 40k baht to assist with an application.

That sounds like a Non Imm O ME application, rather than an extension.

Someone told me that in a famous immigration office, you can ask around in the copy place and for 20 to 25k you can get it sorted out. The person in charge of stamping the Family stamps would be corrupt but you can't ask her directly. But how to know. Except asking.

In a few months, I'll come to Thailand with a non-immigrant visa based on marriage with a Thai Woman. But I never send 40k a month to my bank account. I live with less than 20k a month.

If you cannot prove 40k baht of income you would have to have 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months on the date you apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage.

Dependent upon on where your are applying you could get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage with no financial proof. The visa allows unlimited 90 day entries for one year from the date of issue. You would have to leave the country every 90 days to get a entry.

Agent-assisted 1-year extensions-of-stay based on marriage were being priced 10K+ higher than for retirement, when I checked a couple months ago (Pattaya area).   I assume this is because the division-guy wants extra for the sign-off - in addition to the usual sums that are passed up the chain to prevent crackdowns.

How much of the paperwork they do for you is unknown (I did not ask) - maybe they get an updated KorRor 2, saving the amphur-visit.  I have yet to hear of a "home visit" for anyone using an agent, so the "landlord doc" runaround they like to pull in some offices to deter in-person applications is probably skipped.
