LONDON (Reuters) - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange repeatedly violated his asylum conditions and tried to use the Ecuadorian embassy in London as a centre for spying, Ecuador's President Lenin Moreno told Britain's Guardian newspaper.

London police dragged Assange out of the embassy on Thursday after his seven-year asylum was revoked, paving the way for his extradition to the United States for one of the biggest ever leaks of classified information.

Assange's relationship with his hosts collapsed after Ecuador accused him of leaking information about Moreno's personal life.

Moreno denied to the Guardian that he had acted as a reprisal for the way in which documents about his family had been leaked. He said he regretted that Assange had used the embassy to interfere in other country’s democracies.

"Any attempt to destabilise is a reprehensible act for Ecuador, because we are a sovereign nation and respectful of the politics of each country," Moreno told the Guardian by email.

"We cannot allow our house, the house that opened its doors, to become a centre for spying,” the Guardian quoted Moreno as saying.

Supporters of Assange said Ecuador had betrayed him at the behest of Washington, that the ending of his asylum was illegal and that it marked a dark moment for press freedom.

IMF approves $4.2bn loan for Ecuado

Tuesday 12 March 2019 - 11:05am

WASHINGTON - The International Monetary Fund on Monday approved a $4.2-billion, three-year loan for Ecuador, part of a broader aid package to help support the government's economic reform program.

The Washington-based lender agreed to the terms of the financing late last month, and the final approval of the IMF board on Monday releases the first installment of $652-million.

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said the aid will support the government's efforts to shore up its finances, including a wage "realignment," gradual lowering of fuel subsidies, and reduction of public debt.

Do you have empirical evidence that Assange hacked the embassy's IT? Or is this just another of those "outrageous" allegations disputed by his lawyer Jennifer Robinson, being used justify throwing him to the wolves?

Your gratuitous personal remarks about the man, who has endured the equivalent of seven years in solitary confinement for throwing much-needed light on the dark side of political power, are as irrelevant as they are mean-spirited.

In an age of stifling political correctness when most newspapermen are lapdogs of the establishment, we need more journalists with Assange's courage and tenacity. Here's why, from the grandaddy of whistlebllowers.

Journalist- I don’t think so ????  He would not even clean up his cat’s shit, or follow most rules including staying offline.  His supporters are crying that it’s illegal to evict him ????  It

seems he is a arrogant spotlight thief that cries when he doesn’t get what he wants

Yes the new US loving Equador  Country decided to deny a refugee says it all.

Then you start talking about a cat peeing or whatever to justify the claim.

Truly, everyone knows US bought Brits and Equador. And now claims of rape from Sweden are renewed despite a claim from Sweden that it have no substance.

You are seeing corruption of human rights at its most basic. Anything to silence the murder that Assange revealed. May I state it again,

corruption of the US Murders that Assange revealed.

Go USA, what a champion of human rights you are. And now you suspend actions by the Commission into criminal actions by your soldiers.

Go USA, bury your head in shame.

And you propose to countries how THEY should conduct their affairs. What a crock
