i am looking for a contact number for olarn lake cable park. I have searched the net at great length, with no joy. so please dont just repost stuff you found after a search, i have read it already. All of the very limited amount of info on the web has outdated contact info. i have also tried drive out there to find it, only to discover the directions provided were a little vague at the end, and the numbers were dead.

Has anyone been out there lately? are they still in operation?

i have been out to taco lake for the last 5 weeks in a row and i would like to try something different.

if anyone also knows of a good boardshop in bangkok i would love info on that too. the internet is pretty dry there too.

thanks in advance,

ts

T-Bangkok, Olarn Lake,

T + Fax 0066 2-2352358

Contact: (034) 298-059, (034) 298-060

Two hours 300baht

Only half an hour drive from Pinklao Bridge off the road to Nakhon Pathom ...

From the junction of the Pinklao-Nakorn Chaisri Highway and the Outer Ring Road

proceed 8km West to Buddha Monthon Interchange.

Exit here and follow the signs North to Salaya. Turn left after 1.5km and then turn right at the first opportunity (after about 600m).

Follow this road (about 8km??). Turn left at the big sign for Olarn Lake and follow the unpaved road a few hundred meters to the lake.

Youve probably seen this information already. I just called the landline number and got a reply. They are still open and operational.

Hope this helps.

I've seen boards on sale at Siam Centre; there on the 4th floor are a couple of surf wear shops that have some bindings, boards and stuff.

Not sure what the Olarn one is like; Lakeland in Pattaya is the other option, but kind of sucks compared to Taco; the cable is too long, and hard to get elevation and pitch round the corners, but has some obstacles. Also...no rental boards, only skis AFAIK.

If you are wanting to step things up, get into kite surfing. You can go wherever you want, and bigger jumps :-) If you are reallllly keen, then try windsurfing, and start throwing loops and spocks and stuf.

MF, thanks, i will give it a try.

FYI, i was out at TE wake and ski (totalenertainment) sunday. It is easy to find, chilled out with excellent coaching. behind a boat is quite a bit more exciting than the cable, though the cable might actually be more difficult. 3 boarders, 2 sets each with food and drink it came to 6100 baht. equpment is light years ahead of taco as well.

recommended if you need a pull and dont want to drive out to doc krai reservoir.

Steveromagino, have heard lakeland is pretty shoddy and frighteningly shallow, there is also a place out in ratchaburi called lakepoint, supposed to have good equipment and facilities.

kitesurfing is the next level, but one thing at a time. besides, it will be a while before my wakeboarding ability justifies splashing out on a kite.

Taco is just so ###### convenient and cheap though.

As for equipment, saw some at central chidlom, though a very limited selection. I would really like to demo a board before buying though. be nice to know if waht you are spending 20-30k thai baht on works for you.

to all who replied thanks.

If you want to get new equipment, why not just start talking to some of the guys, and offer one of them soem money or something to try their board for a lap, as you want to buy one.

OK, some maybe is different for me being part Thai, but the guys let me try their stuff all the time and I have only wakeboarded maybe 5 times in my life. Not really my thing, but they were trying to convince me to get into it.

There is also some second hand gear; AFAIK the guys sellign that would love you to demo it.

its not really that much different actually. i hve tried quite a few boards, just looking through the purchase options at this point. people are generally pretty generous with their equipment if they know you arent going to hammer the sliders etc.. an offer of money might not go over too well, the thais you see wakebaording rarely seem to be that out of pocket, but a beer after is never a bad idea. I doubt the guy driving the full custom x5 needs a couple hundred baht. watersports aren't generally a vice of the huddled masses.

thanks for the advice.

ecorn -- try taco lake before you hit olarn,

km 13 bangna trad. a much more reasonable cab ride, though getting a cab back might take some doing

perhaps someone else can help you with instructions in thai.
