April 28, 20197 yr PM attends second Belt and Road Forum in China tewit kemtong BANGKOK, 27 April 2019 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and a delegation of Thais have attended the second Belt and Road Forum in China. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks said the Second Belt and Road Forum scheduled for April 25 and April 27 included 12 thematic forums for high-level officials and specialists regarding all aspects of connectivity, ranging from policy matters to infrastructure, trade, investment, digital technology and innovation to education and peoples. There were over 5,000 attendees including delegates from 150 countries, 29 international organizatioons and private academies. China has invited Thailand to various forums including the Foreign Affairs Minister on policy connectivity, the Transport Minister on infrastructural connectivity, the Digital Minister on digital technology, the Secretary General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission on anti-corruption issues, the secretary general of the Board of Investment on trade and investment promotion issues as well as delegates of various agencies in charge of innovation connectivity, educational connectivity and people’s connectivity. Besides, many representatives of Thailand’s civil networks and private organizations have been invited to the forums. The Thai Prime Minister was among 38 world leaders invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the leader-level meeting on April 26 and April 27, including a high-level meeting and round-table meeting. A total of 38 world leaders from all continents and the 10 ASEAN member states have taken part and anticipate future cooperation in Belt and Road Initiative projects. Thailand has focused on the Belt and Road Inititative as a strategy for connectivity and sustainable development and also focused on the people as centers for development in line with this country’s development strategy. China is viewed as an important neighboring country with all levels of close relationships.
