getting a new Confirmation of marriage doc in another province?

Featured Replies

We were married in the sticks N.E of Thailand and now live in another province.

I have to apply for a 1 yr ext and have to supply a confirmation of marriage doc. I think its called a Khor ror 3.

I surely dont have to go back to the old amphur office to get this..... Can I get it in the new district office? What do I have to provide to them to get this?

thanks

post edit... does anyone else agree its completely ridiculous to have to provide all the same docs again 1 year on when nothing has changed. Surely they could invent a more efficient system....

Your should have your official Thai marriage certificate Khor Ror 3 and Khor Ror 2 and translations in your possession already that should be enough but there's a another heap of photocopies too if your doing a marriage extension.

Your wife can get a Khor Ror 3 at any Amphur for around 20 baht by presenting her ID card and blue book. Immigration want an up to date version to confirm you are still married, so the original would be of no use. It's in Thai, so no need to get it translated for the purpose of an extension.

 Partly correct.

KR3 is the fancy one you get when getting married (you get 2, one for husband, one for the wife) KR2 is the one you get at the amphur, and you can get one at any amphur, wife just needs her ID card.

When going to Immigration, they might like to see a fresh KR2, people got send away at our local Immigration for using an old one ;)

Why would he need a translation of a document in Thai at immigration?

The Kor Ror the 3 is the marriage certificate and the Kor Ror 2 is a marriage registry.

Correct

Many immigration offices want a recent stamped and signed printout of the Kor Ror 2 marriage registry that can be obtained at any Amphoe to prove you are still married.

My wife obtained a new stamped and signed Kor Ror 2 recently in Bueng Kan. The previous one was issued in Phuket so no problem with being in different Province.

Just saying if it's his first application he should have all marriage papers already we got KR3 & 2 when we were married we didn't have to go off and get anything after.

As for Thai immigration I take many copy papers that maybe not wanted but were wanted on previous occasions.
