Have a buddy arriving for the weekend (good planning, I know haha) and was hoping taking him to some favourite watering holes of mine eg. W District, some of the sky bars etc. Does anyone have a clue if there will be any restrictions on the sale of alcohol in general during the coronation process? And if so, from when to when? Some bars may close to allow staff to watch the ceremonies, but I have a feeling that many will be happy to work! But from that link you get that there will be a sales ban, on alcohol, in stores and in all ranges of restaurants, for a good 72 h?!? But only in the "main places". Now, I seldom become surprised as I've been here to long for that, but I am looking forward to this line separating the "main" from the non main places. I asked if they were coming to class on Saturday and Sunday and all have said yes. As to booze, I am sure that they would have announced it already. To me, the main areas they are talking about are any areas that are near the palace or any of the festivities. Let's face with the last thing you need is a bunch of drunk Farang or Thai running around during the parade. Also, remember that most if not all the activities are during the day so they will not affect the night scene at all. No fuss at all, have plenty on stock! Reason for me wondering specifically in regards to this weekend (as I mentioned in the OP) is that I have a mate coming and staying only thru Friday to Sunday. He's never been to BKK before and was hoping bringing him to some of my (personal) favourite spots. Now, I will under any circumstances take him to the W District as they serve some pretty decent food which one doesn't need alcohol to accompany it. But bringing him to the Octave for a coke with is feels a bit unnecessary. So, again, there is no "fuss". Just a general question which I was hoping to get a reasonable answer to without obvius guessing. If I wanted a guess for an answer; I'd ask my wife now wouldn't I.
