Police spokesman Pol Col Krisana Patacharoen said that evidence gathering and witness statements were ongoing in the case of the theft of a 5.2 million baht Richard Mille watch in Bangkok.

An armed man pretending to be a potential buyer of the watch stole it from Thaweephat Sitthikul, 35, in the lobby of a hotel in Lat Prao.

Several warning shots were fired in the street as Thaweephat gave chase.

The Richard Mille RM 011-03TI watch had been earlier advertised on Facebook by Thaweephat who was described as a trader in steel and luxury watches.

Pol Col Krisana added that black market sources were being checked but admitted that the watch may have already been spirited abroad.

Thaivisa notes that Richard Mille watches are among some of the most expensive on earth. Two worth $376,000 and more than half a million dollars were stolen in separate incidents from tennis great Rafael Nadal.

The top of the range model can fetch as much as 40 million baht.

They should consider a seance with the intention of contacting General Rolex's 'dead-friend' who no doubt could help them track the thief down.  Can't have common riff-raff wearing quality time-pieces now!

The drama is palpable...

Either that or someone 'borrowed' it,????

Only a fool wears his wealth.
