Hello everyone,

I have lost my job. I have a non-immigrant B visa with an extension of stay which is still valid until march 2020 (with multiple entries) and a work permit.

I have no intention to look for a new job in Thailand before march 2020.

Do you think it would be ok not to cancel the visa/WP and just let them expire in march 2020, after that I would seek for another visa?

Many thanks.

Your work permit and extension should be canceled as soon as you are no longer working. Your extension is no longer valid on the day you are no longer working.

You employer can cancel your work permit.

You would need a termination letter from your employer to cancel your extension dated for the day you job will end. You could go to immigration a few days before the termination date and they would post date the cancelation to allow you time to leave the country,

What would happen if I just let them expire in 10 months?

I am currently sick and having treatment in Thailand and don't feel able to leave the country right now.

It depends if your ex-employer decides to contact immigration or not.

And could still affect future extensions, as they will see the last extension was never cancelled.

See if you can get an extension based on medical-treatment from your hospital.   On your current extension, you are on overstay every day here after your job ends.
