Investment Visa - Stocks and Funds?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does a 10-million baht investment in Thai stocks qualify for an investment visa?

An what about 10 million baht in an ETF like 1DIV?

Hope to hear back from you. ????

Nope, the investment extension is only given for a few, specified types of investment i.e. purchase of a condominium from a developer, fixed deposit in a Thai bank or purchase of government bonds.

Criteria as outlined in the police order:

Quote

(1) Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).
(2) Must have evidence of transferring funds into Thailand of no less than Baht 10 million.
(3) Must have evidence of investing in the purchase or rental of a condominium unit for a period of no less than 3 years issued by a relevant agency or government, at a purchase or rental price of no less than Baht 10 million: or

(4) Must have evidence of investing in the form of a fixed deposit of no less than Baht 10 million with a bank which is registered in Thailand and has Thai nationals holding more than 50 percent ;or
(5) Must have evidence of investing in the purchase of government or state enterprise bonds of no less than Baht 10 million; or
(6) Must have evidence of making an investment as set out in Criteria (3), (4), or (5) with a total value of not less than Baht 10 million

No.

And if you made such an investment - what do you need to do for visa requirements? Is there 90 day reporting, TM30, and annual renewal?

You first need a non-b visa and then you apply for a one year extension of stay and then apply for a new extension every year.

You would need to do 90 day report and TM30 forms if required by your local office.

Does anyone know what interest rate the govt bonds pay? Maybe this would be a better option than the elite card?

Hopefully some Chinese will grab it as they don't fancy living in Thailand inhaling smogs and smelling stinky sois under an authoritarian rule. They already have plenty in their own country of the same, including cheap sex, mia nois, marrying 20-years younger ladies, etc. They have absolutely no reason to live in Thailand.

10-year bonds around 2.5 and twenty year bonds around 3.5

I was wondering about buying shares or something myself. Last night I noticed the investment area in my SCB Easy online banking. I clicked into it but it got to a point where it said only available to Thai nationals. I wonder if that is just in that scenario or only Thais can invest this way on other platforms?
