"The election was a whitewashing effort for the military to stay in power so that they can tell the international community that they are an elected government,"

And the international community realizes this...but the domestic community has become so apathetic or blind that they don't seem to care or know so the circus rolls on.

So much blatant cheating that the population has given up trying to change the status quo. There will be change one day in the future and it will be bloody.

Bloody unlikely , dream on ..

#Thailand #ThaiElection19 Thairath frontpage: FFP's Piyabutr threatens to reveal those who to suck/steal their MPs to join Palangpracharat, there's sufficient evidence. PPRP is not interested in BJT/Dem 3rd option, wants to reserve 4 golden ministries for themselves.

So if Democrats and BJT have only the slightest sign of intelligence and honor, they'll join the anti-junta alliance. I'm sure they'll be happy to give them some minister positions.
And after that, it will be hard for the Junta to stay in power, if they don't bring out another rigged idea or let some bombs explode somewhere.

Yep you got it. They don't really care what anyone in any international community thinks. All they have to say it is recorded on paper and we won it honorably and democratically.

Has a bit of a western (really west) ring to it, "honorably and democratically". Stage an inauguration now and claim to have the largest attendance in history!

This outcome is about what I expected but I am baffled by how incompetent they were in getting there.

The "rigged" but poor effort at manipulating an election smacks of the same incompetency that is displayed in guiding the country forward to "happiness" and prosperity.

Abhisit's nephew, Parit Wacharasindhu, makes a valid point when he says the Democrat supporters who support Prayuth voted for PPRP in the election, abandoning the party. Those that did vote for the party wanted the party to take an independent position, an independent opposition party, opposed to the junta. if the party is to become relevant to the young it must realize the extent of Thai youth's opposition to the junta, as seen by FF's success.

if the Democrats refuse to join PPRP then the chances of the junts'a ex ministers forming a government are very slim indeed.

You never know. Thailand might make its own show the weapons and marching junta square soon. All the need to do is put the submarine on wheels and stick a missile on it when they get it.

Yes, it is a very good point. However: 1] those who call the shots in The Democrat Party will not be able to resist the opportunity of a seat in government, 2) even if The Democrat Party does follow his suggestion, it will only lead to another round of "counting" and the Junta emerging as winners...

But they could have a seat in government by joining PT and FF, in fact they could get more Grade A ministries than if with PPRP.

Whisper "Ampon Kittiampon might become PM"

Latest news.

I have gone on record several times that the script involves Prayuth becoming PM.For clarity it "involves" thus being a likely detail rather than an absolute requirement. If it looks to the shadowy powers that Prayuth will be a liability rather than an asset, he will be ruthlessly discarded. It's also true that Prayuth is looking somewhat shop soiled so a blindly loyal functionary like Amporn might well fill the spot.
