Hi, if i stay at my wifes parents house in Korat do I need to get them to report that i am staying there for two weeks. I know when i have to stay at my wifes house in Pattaya I need to get her to go down when ever I come into the country and notify immigration but I am not sure if it is the same in Nakhon Ratchisima.

Thanks.

Since you are not going to do anything at immigration while in Korat I would not worry about the family doing a TM30 report. Immigration would not know about you staying there.

That is if no nasty jealous neighbors will find the need to report on you..

I would guess the neighbors would be Thai and I would guess the majority of Thais do not know anything about immigration requirements.

I can just say that people usually don't like guessing when it involves their relationship with the law..

Joe is right.

If your in-laws do not submit a TM30 then Immigration records show you at your home address. Yes the address reporting is a pain, but you would only normally do this if you have temporary left Thailand or stayed at a hotel that took your passport details.

Most of us wouldn't bother for internal travel visiting family or where the wife has booked the hotel etc.

Went to Jomtien today for TM30...was a two hour wait....not one person ahead of us had the right paperwork, nightmare.

What happened?

Others describe it as an absolute delight.

If you go to Korat Immigration - the small office at the rear, I think its the one where people do their 90 day reports, take the housemaster with you or signed copies of their Thai ID card and Tabien Baan, the staff there will set up online TM30 reporting for you.  Armed with the login name and password, you can the report yourself each time you stay there - 2 minute job.

Make screenshots of where to enter what because the site is all in Thai.

I wish they could do this at Jomtien but have told me only hotels can do this.

Last year, in November, I came back from a trip abroad and as the Immigration laws says I asked my landlord to go with me to Immigration and report my staying at his house (within 24 hours).

We went to Korat Immigration, the little building marked with "90 days report".
But nobody there knew what this was all about.
One officer took us to the next door and we explained again the whole thing.
The officer knew the law apparently better and explained us that we should go to the main building to fill in a new TM30.
We went to the main building and explained to the students who are receiving the foreigners that we came to report my comeback in the house.
The student lead us to one of the desk officers and the desk officer said that it was not needed anymore to report the comeback as it was already filed at the immigration in Suvarnabhmi.

The never ending story of "Each official has the right to his/hers own interpretation of the law".
