webfact
Video: Family flee for their lives as fire breaks out in brand new BMW! A mother told Thai Rath that a nanny had to grab her eight month old child and run for their lives as her brand new BMW X3 started burning at a gas station. "Bobeau Rapeeporn" posted a brief video of the drama. She had gone into Amazon to get a coffee and left the nanny with her son in her car with the engine running. She had only bought the vehicle three weeks ago. Gas station staff came running in to say her car was on fire and smoke was billowing out the back. A good Samaritan member of the public got a fire extinguisher but some parts had melted. The owner claimed that BMW Thailand had been useless. They gave a cursory inspection after the incident on Friday then said they were on holidays. She should bring in the car on Wednesday (today). She claimed that she had received no apology or explanation from BMW. Thai Rath did not say they had asked the company for comment, notes Thaivisa. ExpatOilWorker
The picture of the melted plastic is from the engine, but the smoke appears to come from the rear of the car. Wonder if it is a hybrid with the battery pack in the boot? I will be very surprised if BMW warranty don't fully cover this little incident. They weren't going to accept any fault without a full inspection at the dealership which Is fair and proper considering it seemed to be some kind of electrical fault watching the video . sqwakvfr
The South Korean government has said it will ban about 20,000 BMWs from its streets after a spate of the vehicles catching fire. The ban will apply to cars which have not yet been sent to BMW for safety checks under a voluntary recall. Nearly 30 engines caught on fire in 2018 mainly in the BMW's 520d sedan models. Not the rest time this has happened.
Juan B Tong
OK fire! Lets all stand around just in case it blows up. Nanny and baby eventually exit. Wifey took delivery of a new Nissan three weeks ago. Dealership I'm Pattaya, Nissan HQ in Bangers, finance folks from dealership and salesman have each called to check on how she likes it. I am very impressed. Thinking of having her buy one for me! Jimdandy
Did you notice the drivers of vehicles on both sides were more concerned about moving their cars than making sure everybody was out of the burning car first? Wow talk about priorities, life vs. materialism. Did you notice the people running away? Say what you want about American social process, crisis is one bond we still have. Almost everybody would have helped. One guy with a fire extinguisher. Just sad.
