Good Day,

What is a recommended clinic or hospital to detox (alcohol) in Bangkok? I really need to stop drinking, but would rather do it in a controlled environment.

Will 50,000 baht suffice?

Cheers

PK

Also add some hobby or interest that you like to get into because that will help alot.

Start cutting back each day, even if it's by only 1 small bottle, and then after a week try cutting two bottles ... and so on until your almost down to nothing because your too busy doing much more interesting stuff with your cash.

Discipline and Will Power .....   if your serious then you need both of these  !!!

Alcoholics generally don't have either, which is why the guy is asking about detox programs, NOT doing it himself!

Yep, I can't stop by myself. That's why I need to get into some clinic or rehab. Currently on 1 litre of whiskey per day. Any recommendations for a place to go?

Well,  good on you for recognizing you need to do something else.

Might want to do the 7 day blitz.

1 LITER whiskey on day 1

3/4 on day 2

1 pint day 3

1/2 pint day 4

1/2 pint day 5

1/4 pint day 6

1/4 pint day 7

Otherwise, you could get yourself into a medical emergency or worse.   Quitting booze or Benzodiazapines cold turkey can kill you dead.   I know,  I drank hard for 30 years.  the last 3 of which i drank a quart of vodka daily.

I've been dry for well over a year.  Not everybody is allowed to quit.   If you are given a chance,  take it man.

I just laid to rest my best friend to booze.   He didn't even make it to 50.   Left behind a wife of 25 years, and 3 good kids that are never going to be the same.

Rehab not only gets you detoxed medically and safely under the guidance of a Psychiatrist and professional Nurses, but rehab has experienced Therapists to work through the reason you drink - the underlying mental health issues that you are self medicating with alcohol to mask or numb.

Detox is only part of the solution. Dealing with the whole problem will hopefully ensure you don't fall back into old habits and have the tools and coping mechanisms should you feel like you might.

The OP has asked twice for specific help and information. Telling him to do it himself is not what he wants.

My friend was a pilot and went to a place called Inspire Rehab.

It is a Western style rehab in Bangkok.

He came out of the place a new man after 30 days

But, it may be a little expensive. Do you have insurance?

Maybe go to a hospital and talk to someone about this.

Good luck to you I hope you get the help you need.

How on earth does someone get themselves into the situation of drinking "one litre of whiskey a day"??? Do you even have time to do anything else? BTW, if you want to quit alcohol, I think Thailand is probably the worst place in the world you could choose to do it. It's overflowing with chronic alcoholic farangs and cheap booze and bars everywhere you look... Even local Thais drink like fishes! Anywhere would really be better than Thailand, plus the unrelenting heat in Thailand will dehydrate you and damage your health even more if you combine it with alcohol. Thailand is, in my opinion, the worst place on earth to be a drinker.

with years of practice .....  many whiskey drinkers consume a bottle a day. I drink 6-8 lge bottles of beer and some gin every day, I sleep quite good. very-drunk.gif.95dd49ba8d76e88f84534462b31756cd.gif

No,   the withdrawl killed him.   His system collapsed while in the ICU after 3 days of medical attention.  They had him sedated (unconscious) and medicated but  his organs  just gave out.

I saw him about 3 months before he died.   He'd been out of control to the point that he got into it with his eldest son (20 yrs) and his wife called the cops and got a restraining order against him.

He'd moved into a nearby motel and was pretty down.   He wanted to go to rehab across the country and wanted money.   I was going to give him some but decided not to.  Figured it'd be enabling him to continue his spiral.

He went to New york anyway and within 6 weeks was in icu.

It really stinks because the guy had a good wife and mother to his 3 good kids.   They were all out of the nest.

She has a good job and he did too..  Had been a teacher and a counselor to troubled kids,  in the teachers union,  had everything a guy could hope for full benefits and a 401k...   Shit,  he'd even hung up the booze for a year and went back to it when he realized that his life wouldn't magically be perfect if he eliminated the ethanol.

He was a great guy until his sickness consumed him... I still can't wrap my head around it all.

I firmly believe that the alcohol abuse is not a disease,  it is a symptom of a disease.    Just removing it does not cure the disease, but it stops the damage to the body.   The disease continues.

The disease is an inability to cope with life on life's terms.

Until the disease is treated,  the damage can continue.
