BANGKOK, 29 May 2019 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has condemned those who perpetrated an inhumane bombing at a market in the southern border region and has instructed the authorities to bring them to justice as soon as possible.

Deputy government spokesman Lt. Gen. Veerachon Sukhonthapatiphak said today the PM has condemned those guilty of the bombing at Bor Thong market in Nong Chik district of Pattani province, saying that one person was killed and several others were injured.

The premier expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and ordered security units to speed up the probe into the incident, and collect enough evidence to bring the suspects to justice as soon as possible.

The bombing was considered an inhumane act which occurred in the middle of the market where many villagers were shopping in the season of Ramadan. He also instructed the authorities to provide maximum compensation to the injured villagers and families of the victims.

The bombing was reported to have been perpetrated by members of a group who have previously done the same thing, and are known to sow unrest. It’s believed the authorities will soon receive enough tip-offs to lead to the gang’s arrest. Besides, the authorities were already hunting for suspects involved in an untoward incident in Narathiwat province and were taking strict security measures for public safety.

gang’s arrest

So no recognition that it was organized Muslim insurgents, consistent with the military's position that such attacks are done by common thugs or bandits (jone khaek) motivated only by violence and money?

The military has denied for decades that there is an insurgency against the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Thailand so as not to give insurgents any credibility for grievances against the Thai government. But:

Like the military's attack on protestors and civilians in the Thai military cracked down on the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) protests in 2010? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Thai_military_crackdown

There's no denying that the military knows the face of inhumanity.
