A motorbike driver has survived being partly run over by a tour bus in Pattaya last night.

Rescue workers heard about the incident at 9pm last night near an intersection in South Pattaya.

They arrived at the scene to find the red tour bus which was full of Chinese tourists. Under the bus found the damaged motorbike. The motorbike driver, 29 year old Rakkiet Chairat had sustained only minor injuries and somehow was able to walk away from the incident.

Police are continuing their investigation and checking CCTV footage to find out who was at fault.

Does it matter, those ruddy great coaches are far too big for any of the Beach Rd junctions!

IF the cameras are working; IF a member of Pattaya Plod can remain alert enough to watch a video; the odds are it was not the fault of the Thai motor cycle driver - he has no money.

It´s easy to understand why the accident happened. Just look how many percent of the front window that is used for see the road and traffic in front of the bus.

He does have all those white bears keeping an eye out for him

Oh wait, there just as stuffed as he is

How is the nationality of the tourists aboard the bus relevant to this story?

I bet the Chinese tourists are relieved - no ghost to haunt them!!

Looks like the motorcyclist was trying to undertake the turning bus.

Happens all the time when I'm turning left...

Indicating, making it pretty obvious that I'm turning left.. but have to slam on the breaks when a motorcycle still tries to squeeze through on the inside left or is riding down the pavement across the junction...

Many motorcyclists are simply unaware of how often the bigger vehicles 'save' them from their own stupidity.

If a vehicle has to cross lanes to turn it is too big for the junction. But yes, undertaking is something to watch for here wrt motorcycles. I am glad you look, I do too in the truck. Sadly not all do. I also ride a bike. All too often a car comes to a junction well clear of the kerb, then cuts across that gap to filter in, wrong!

Number one rule of motorbiking in Thailand; don't.

You'd best not take a walk down the pavement either.... how can you leave the house? there is risk all around you.

I agree. The labels are irrelevant.

The barrier that has been put up around the World Gems corner (inside when turning off Beach Rd onto South Rd at WS Entrance) will deter people trying to cross and protect foot traffic being churned up under coach wheels!
