Reporting to immigration within 24 hours of arrival .

Featured Replies

I just returned from the UK on Friday 11/09/2026 . Filled in the TDAC online in the UK which was approved . Does the TDAC mitigate the need to report to the Thai immigration ( within 24 hours of arrival ) office of where I am staying ,which I cannot do because they are closed on Saturdays and Sundays . Also is there an online facility to make a new arrival notification to the Thai immigration . If so please provide a link .

I returned toThailand via the Suvarnabhumi airport arrivals immigration using a re-entry permit , the IO did not ask me to view my TDAC copy on my phone . Is that normal procedure ?

  • It should be possible for you to create an online TM30 notification account based on your wife's blue tabien baan entry and ID card, thus sparing her the need to be involved in this process. Can vouch

  • Theoretically. If you ever find a local police station that actually accepts your TM30 report, let us know. Nowadays they have it even easier to fob you off, as they can refer you to the online system

  • I do nothing re TM30 after trips away from province nor after trips abroad. However I always obtain a TM30 just prior to attending immigration for say annual extension.

TDAC does not mitigate TM30 reporting.

Landlord/owner/housemaster/hotel can do online TM30.

Do it within 24hrs...... or not, I never do !

IO can see your TDAC on their screen, that is why they do not ask.

I have lived here 37 years and never have done that. I go in and out at least once a year. I have always dealt only with Chang Wattana Immigration. In fact I dont ever recall even thinking about that. I only think "damn" now I have to go to immigration to do my 90 day report in 90 days.

TDAC is separate from TM30 reporting; the latter still needs to be done if and when required. What kind of visa or extension do you have? Are you returning to the same residential address, or do you stay at a hotel? TM30 notifications can be filed online, but whether that's your own responsibility or someone else's depends on what kind of place you're staying.

Retirement non o extension . Same address for 15 years .My wife is not computer literate and so I will visit the immigration office on Monday .

About 3 or 4 years a go I went to the local immigration office for a 90 day report . I was served by a new young female I,O, who called a senior I,O, over to show that I had not reported to them within the 24 hours after returning from a UK visit some 8 months previously . The senior I,O, waived the fine to my delight but the new jobs worth young I,O, was not happy .

TDAC does not replace the need to report to the local IO within 24 hours of arrival. Even if the TDAC was filled out and approved, it is still mandatory to report your arrival to the local immigration office.

Just to be clear, there is no "approval" for TDAC. It's just a form. No one looks at it, and no one approves it. It's just a box checking exercise, and when you arrive at the airport they make sure that box is checked.

Requirement to file a TM30 after trip abroad or even trip out of province if returning to ongoing address depends entirely on the immigration office.

Even that can change.

As posted earlier... If you have business with immigration eg extension then it's prudent to do a TM30 prior to attending

As I recall, the necessary IMM approval was forthcoming pretty instantaneously in my case.

I do all the TM30 stuff for myself..........my wife has no clue. It would take longer for her to figure it out than my visa extension lasts.

I guess it depends on your location. I asked at mine and they stapled a form in my passport that lists my address and said as long as it stays the same no need to report trips out of area. I think you can also do that report at the local police station.

As an example that your TDAC isn't approved.

I filled in my TDAC in recently before travelling back to Thailand.

Later I looked it and realised I'd entered my first name, middle name and surname in the wrong order...doh!

On arrival I went through the Thai imm desks with my wife. My wife explained my mistake. Imm Officer wasn't at all interested and just offered us a "mai pen rai".

Since 2019 I've been using a signed/stamped TM30 receipt slip, which has a note written on it in thai by the IMM officer, I use for annual extensions etc.

I'm guessing there are other farlangs who have a similar signed slip they use.

Oh! Is that what that little slip is? I've often wondered.....I assume no one will accept it a "Certificate of Residence" though?

They would not accept it as a certificate of residence because it is not a certificate of residence. It's a receipt for TM30.

And yet the Certificate of Residence is based on the TM30......which I complete.....555

The COR may confirm the address registered on a TM30, but it's use is specific to applying for a DL, vehicle purchase, or opening a bank account.

Yes, I understand that.....it's just the ridiculousness of it all........I need a certificate of residence, but it is me who tells immigration the address to put on the certificate.....!!!

I've read comments about this on numerous occasions. There appear to be numerous examples that vary from one IO to another. In 15 years I have never received a stamped receipt for this document and generally ignored it.Then I needed to renew my driving license so needed a proof of address certificate. To obtain this I needed a TM30 and then the Spanish Inquisition commenced.

I just wait until the Thai wife is in a bad mood and let her accompany me and deal with it. Her bad days come in use occasionally.

Bit melodramatic.

To obtain a COR may require a providing a TM30 or TM47 along with anything else immigration requires

Changing the subject slightly. If i returned to Thailand and my landlord registered me online with a new TM30 rather then me going to immigration and 'updating' my current one, the receipt of notification when done digitally is in a different format to the paper slip that i currently have as my TM30 in my passport.

Is the receipt the landlord will give me after doing it online accepted by Immigration for visa extensions etc?

TIA

Your covered.

As I have posted in thread.

The landlord could have done nothing.

I ask landlord for a TM30 if attending immigration for a reason such as extension etc.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, i hi- jacked the thread, my post was a seperete issue from the op's original question. I just wanted to know that the next time I return to Thailand, if my landlord does a new TM30 for me instead of me actually going to immigration to do it, is the digital receipt from the landlord accepted for visa extensions as the paper slip TM30 is?, as they are different, albeit they both contain the same information.

I believe your referencing section 38 of the Immigration Act, of which I'll underline the the relevant part you allude to.

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager where the alien , receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed , must notify the competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned. If there is no Immigration Office located in that area , the local police official for that area must be notified.

The Act was written in 1979, when there probably wasn't a dedicated Immigration office.
Every Province has had it's own dedicated IO for some years , so the option of reporting at a Police office is now redundant.

That's, exactly correct.

The police office days was when some areas didn't have an immigration office.

That is no longer the case.

The requirement at the Jomtien IO is that if none of your details including the address you are staying at have changed, then no need to obtain a new TM30.

If there are changes to your details then you need to reapply for a new TM30.

All I know is that the one time I didn't do it, I got a massive dressing down from the immigration officer.
