Jesus, this photo almost looks as bad as the Mount Everest climber log jam at the summit, granted with much less dire consequences

Yes, looks like a quiet and beautiful place away from the crowds????

It is a quiet and beautiful place :smile:

The photo is old; access to this beach and this bay is now forbidden.

This is BS, everything tourists and long stayers buy is taxed. It's not the foreigner's fault that they can't manage or dig into the trough to suit themselves. They want the cake and also another double helping. Not going to happen! Thailand needs to learn that the years of screwing tourists out of money are over and they need to get their affairs in order.

As long as the tourists keep coming and forking over what ever the new tax du jour is, it will keep on happening. No repercussions and it will be 1,000B before you know it...along with a bunch of new taxes by then.

And even at 1000 baht, it would still be a tiny percentage of the taxes you'd pay on a flight to Thailand.  Have a look at the fine print on your last ticket to Thailand and see where the taxes went.  Here's a hint...  Not to Thailand.

I see your point. There may be plans afoot for the purchase of a new luxury getaway mansion in protected forest land or a new car that somehow made it into the country tax free. Amazing how the few reap the harvest of the many.

All good in theory, however, many of the tourist accidents involve scooters being ridden without a licence. Surely, this will be a get out for the insurance companies., after all there has been a number of headlines over the years (and not just Thailand) reporting insured tourists whose insurance cover has been invalidated by motorcycle riding

You can buy all the insurance you want;
if on the road you do not respect the highway code or drive under the influence of any drug, whether legal or not,
if you call while driving, if you forget to fasten your safety belt or wear the helmet correctly on a motorcycle,
and if ... and if ..

The insurance purchased will not cover you;
this new measure serves no purpose except to fill in some extra brown envelopes.
Make no mistake; current vehicles are full of electronics and devices register everything you do "without the knowledge of your grasp" but not at the knowledge of insurance companies who will find the flaw to avoid paying you back.

So, travel accident insurance no longer required. :thumbsup:
