You may well of added. NO answers please. Because any answer would be a guess.

He said no guessing so since you ignored that, one could just as easily say to PROMOTE agents.

  • OP, in other words, there was never an official explanation, and no "journalist" reporting on the story ever showed enough initiative to ask. So your guess is as likely to be right as anybody els

As I doubt that senior immigration officers and government policy makers are TV forum members, your request for no guesses is an impossibility. We are all guessing.

Agreed so why no official statement, it's not unreasonable to raise the question.

Not at all unreasonable to question it, just impossible to provide a definitive answer.

Many guys ask why they did this, or do that. Its not fair, people will be leaving etc.

But the bottom line is that they make the rules (for whatever reason..its still their rules). So we must live with and adapt to them.

Could it be as simple as no mandatory health but keep 400k for emergency treatment? It's the same amount for insurance plus you don't need 40k for outpatient as you have that too...... Self insurance...

To make it harder for applicants/agents/IO’s to submit fraudulent applications.

That is a perfectly logical and common sense thought process; and there lies the inherent problem nobody in Thailand is capable of that or implementing it.

its rational tho, just follow the money,

if i have leverage to force people to lend me money

at 1% interest, i would enforce it and make bank.

after that, i merely have to find the sweet spot

how many i can force at how high amount of money, before they leave.

think profit, think capitalism, think thai

Not at all.

Agents are the life blood of the system.

10's of millions of baht spread throughout RTP.

Immigration encourages agent use and the prices have gone up double or triple now.

It is easier, faster, and more efficient for them to process. And much more money for them.

Agents are and will never be banned..

Except that the moment you spend it for that you no longer qualify for your extension of stay.

(And of course 400k is ridiculously low for medical cover here. But TI apparently does not know that...or else just settled for what local insurance companies wanted to offer).

Same price in Pattaya, are you saying now that at your IO, an agent would charge 30 or 45k for a retirement extension
