BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's economy is expected to grow at a faster pace in the second quarter than in the first three months of the year as domestic consumption continues to increase and tourism improves, a finance ministry official said on Thursday.

Exports, a key driver of Thai growth, are likely to contract in the first half before recovering in the second half, helped by a low base last year, deputy spokesman Pornchai Theeravet told reporters.

Southeast Asia's second-largest economy expanded 2.8% in the first quarter from a year earlier, its weakest pace in more than four years, as government investment, exports and tourism slowed.

TAT must have had a hand in the reporting.

What happened to all these projects that the Chinese were going to do? Money spent on the police stations? Dams, Trains, roads, bridges, water project in the big Pineapple (Bangkok).

I don't think China was making investments but rather making loaning funds to the government. That grows China's short term GDP rate at the expense of Thailand's (hopefully) long term GDP rate.

No, it is 'Thai second quarter growth pace expected faster than Q1 - ministry'

"seen' is past tense action but article clearly states
