A father and son, driving in a Lamborghini sports car, have survived after colliding with power poles in Chon Buri, north of Pattaya.

Emergency responders were notified of the incident yesterday on Sukhumwit Road in Chon Buri city area, south of Bangkok.

At the scene found the damaged ‘Aventador’ Lamborghini sport car valued 34 million baht in a crumpled heap on the road. Two power poles have been knocked over.

The driver, 45 year old Somkiet Kruwongpaiboon and his son, were safe and standing near the car waiting for police to arrive.

Mr Somkiet says, “My son and I were heading from Bangkok to my father’s funeral in Chon Buri.”

“When I arrived at the scene there was some water was on road surface, I lost control of my car and collided with the power poles.”

And I wonder how fast exactly was he traveling to lose control of the car? The damage suggests low flying might have been a fairly good description. Those power poles need a seriously good hit before they go down.

This was where you should have taken some action, like get your leadfoot off the speed pedal.

Dab of Uhu will put that right.

Good thing they didn't hit a tree. Those tend not to fall over so easily.

Big fat tires... light car... pooled water on the roads... Aquaplaning.

Light, powerful cars with big fat tires need to take additional caution in heavy rain. The driver was unaware of this...

Just breaking it in I guess - still had red license plates on.

Wet roads.

High powered RWD super car.

Like inexperienced driver with tiny willy.

What could possibly go wrong.

the majority barely knows how to drive a Tuk Tuk and they buy expensive fast cars for the show off... not long ago saw some driving a Ferrari at 40-50 Kms /H on the highway, hands on the wheel like his was grabbing for his life

Spot on Geordie .. Motors like this are not best suited over here .. Time again articles come up of motors like this getting stacked by folk who have more money than sense to buy one but little ability or awareness to use it ..

And probably was having those red plates since.. forever? ????

Can you imagine the amount of grey matter the ones who contribute to people with a lot of money have.

At least this guy did not blame the car or anything but said he lost control of the car. That sounds honest and right.

They are still poles apart in the driving gene pool and could explain some water on the road????

So, what was the hurry, papa wasn't going anywhere.

How is it even possible to drive a car like that on Thai roads? Even with a pickup or SUV, you'll have to struggle your way through all those potholes. I guess it's step on the gas and fly over the obstacles?

Only be used on poser motorways like Pattaya - Bangkok, Bangkok ringroad and Bangkok downtown/clubbing?

Do the navigation systems have a supercar filter?

For other roads these people have a proper SUV or the like.

I wonder what business they are in to afford that and drive reckless after flooding

There are quite a few racing around in Bangkok, their cars will probably get ruined, but what a hell, it's about prestige!

I think they wanted to join grandpa in a buy one get 2 free

How do they know his 8 year old son wasn’t driving?

they can just about drive motorcycle side cars so a lambo is just asking for trouble!!!

in most cars the aquaplaning will start around 80 km/h depend of how much water is on the surface, how heavy the car is and how wide the tyres are. Then it will deploy with a lower speed.

All new cars which want to pass the NCAP crash test must now have some kind of crumple zone to prevent pedestrian injuries. And if you have a look on this lamp post it seems that it was only buried fuw centimetre in a water soaked earth. Neither, I see any anchor bolts on the lamp post footing.

So, my assumption is that he was not going so fast because the Lambo came to stop very close to the impact zone.
