Thanks for the link and further information! My Mrs refuses to use our ceiling fan saying "Thai people not like". But fortunately she does consent to use of pedestal fans.

A pedestal fan can do the job just as well. We used a good Japanese brand for a few years but I kept bumping into it on my trip to the loo and when it started to make noise, probably because of a ballbearing wearing out, we reassigned it to the laundry room.

As for the wife liking the temperature setting one degree lower, déjà vu. "Happy wife, happy life", as the saying goes, and I use a heavier blanket on my side of the bed.

Won't a dehumidifier take more water out of the air?

Just put my AC on 16 temperature. So, it cools my room.

I thought a dehumidifier added heat to the room and would up the need for AC a little?

I was considering buying a dehumidifier but decided that, before paying out, I'd make some checks on the RH in my main bedroom and outside in the shade.

I was very surprised with my findings given the often-stated 'high humidity' here, although I've often suspected that it's not as high as people say, at least in my area. As I'm writing this at 2 pm on an overcast day, the RH in my bedroom is 35 db, 27 wb = 55% RH with AC off and outdoors 52 %. The highest RH I've recorded in the bedroom is 62%. The Weather Channel on my computer is quoting 90% for this locality now.
