Current Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit were formally nominated as candidates for the prime minister’s post in parliament this morning.

Palang Pracharat party-list MP Natthapol Teepsuwan nominated General Prayut whereas the Future Forward MP representing Chiang Mai’s Constituency 8 nominated Thanathorn. Both candidates were endorsed by their respective supporters.

General Prayut was not in parliament, but engaged in other government activities. Thanathorn was also absent because he is temporarily suspended from his duties as an MP by the Constitutional Court over the media share ownership case.

Let the policy debate begin!

????????????????

Hasn't everyone forgotten something important: The outsider PM route as well as the Senators voting for the PM option were only to be used in the case where no majority government was formed and no MP could thus get the majority vote to be PM which would lead to a political deadlock. BUT PPRP does have a majority government so surely they should nominate a current MP for today's vote and the senators should not be involved.

They must have forgotten to include the small lines saying :

* The 250 guaranteed votes will not be counted unless they are needed
