Guys , extending visa does it have different rules from country to other in Thai  ?

Or every citizen can extend it for 30 days ?

I have heard some countries only can extend for  7 days in thai , some 15 days in Thai  ? Is that correct

In Thailand, you need to distinguish between a "visa" and a "permission to stay". The visa cannot be extended. The permission to stay sometimes can be.

The permission to stay is what you get when you enter the country. There are these primary kinds of permission to stay:

  • Regular tourist entry, where you enter the country using a tourist visa, or (for some nationalities) without a visa, a so called visa exempt entry.
  • Entry using a visa on arrival (for some nationalities not eligible for visa exempt entry).
  • "Non immigrant" entry.

Extensions of your permission to stay are applied for at an immigration office inside Thailand, and can be granted for various reasons. For the tourist, the most common is the 30-day extension of a regular tourist entry. This is not available for those with an entry from a visa on arrival.

The 15-day extension does not exist: it is probably a confusion with old rules for visa exempt entry which are now obsolete.

There is also, technically, no 7-day extension, but in reality you can kind of get one. If you apply for an extension without meeting the conditions for one, the extension is refused, but you are given seven days to leave the country.

Yes. If you are not staying in a hotel, ensure the owner of where you are staying has done a TM30 notification ("Notification by housemaster of alien staying in the residence"). Otherwise it is easy. Apply any time during about the last week of your permission to stay. The extension costs 1,900 baht.

Only those from a country that gets their 30 day entry from the standard visa exempt entry scheme cab can apply for the 30 day extension. Those that get them under a bilateral agreement with Thailand can not apply for one.

There is both a Visa Exempt scheme (30 days), applies to about 50 nations, and a Visa Waiver (30 and 90 days) bilateral agreement, applying to a total of 11 Nations.

You can find details in Wiki.

Don't you have a tourist Visa that you obtained outside Thailand?

You can have a single 30 day extension on the 60 day stay, although there are a few countries restricted to a 7 day extension.

Sorry the above discussion went into the realms of Visa Waivers and Visa Exempts...

Isn't that distinction applies to most countries? For example, a US/Canadian visa is given for 10-year. It does not mean the person can live in the US/Canada for 10-year. The IO, based on your need will allow you to stay in US/Canada for a certain number of days only. Many colleagues in MS had Indian business visa for 10-year and for each entry, they were allowed to stay only for 6-month. I never had any visa except Thailand visa so I cant tell about all countries where visas are required.
