Moving to Thailand, ed visa, re-entry, Laos etc layout and questions.

Hi,

My plan looks like this

Flying in Thailand with one way ticket using visa exemption - having exit ticket to Laos in 4 weeks.

On first day going to enroll school in Thailand and they promised paperwork done under 4 weeks, if not apply for extension in IO(1900b).

Renting a condo - Need to make sure that office report me living there.

Flying to Laos to apply for ED-visa, (need to make appointment) Also visa on arrival for Laos is 35usd

Apply visa in Thai embassy cost 2000b and collect next day

Enter Thailand by friendship bridge and get stamped first 90days

Get Re-entry permit(1000b)

Flying to visit home before 90 days are full and coming back 2 weeks later and using re-entry permit to get new 90days stamp and i don't need to have return/out ticket.

After 1 year full need to get new visa.

So now questions

Is there something that i haven't thought?

Do i need to report my stay at any point in immigration office if i'm leaving Thailand before every 90 days is full and coming back 2 weeks later.

All advice is very much appreciated,

Thank you

You will only be getting a single entry non-ed visa that only allows one 90 day entry. You seem be thinking you will get be getting a multiple entry non-ed visa which is not available anywhere within the region.

Near the end of the 90 day entry from the visa you will need to apply for a extension of stay at immigration.

If attending a informal school such as a language school your extensions will only be for 90 days for each one.

Yes, that's why i'm also getting re-entry permit every time before visiting home.

If i have understood correctly that will allow me re-active visa on return and get another 90 days in Suvarnabhumi airport without having to go and get extensions from IO. Or does re-enrty only allow my me use rest of days left on old stamp?

OP, this may unrelated, however just a suggestion...

Do you really want an ED visa or its just a way to have an extended stay. Reason for asking is there may be other suggestions of how to stay longer in los than your typical tourist. A METV would be good start with added ideas to provide year or more.

I also want to study but of course another ideas are welcome. But at least in my country METV is requiring standing balance of 6000e/last 6 month not just last month, same as SETV is requiring 600e/standing in your account for past 3 months and these wont be possible to me.

So make it easier maybe need to put dates then easier understand what i'm meaning

Coming from Laos to thailand with ed-visa, 1st of August. getting 90-days stamp. valid until 30th of October

Getting re-entry permit

Flying home 15th of September for 2 weeks and coming back to Thailand 1st of October using re-entry permit, do i get to stay 30th of October or get new 90-days stamp at Suvarnabhumi? if get activated old stamp then i need to apply extension at IO of course but i thought i will get new stamp?

and if old one then again doing same at Xmas time, no problem just few visits more to immigration and need to pay for extensions as well as re-entry permits.

Depends on you history of visits/time spent in los.

Even just using visa exempt and setv etc people do this and basically stay in Thailand over a year.

Quick eg ...fly in visa exempt and extend. (60).

Short trip to say Saigon enter VE again and extend (60). Then you have setv,s.

Last couple use border crossing as by then bkk airports might be an issue.

You can enter by land twice per calendar yr. So depending on when you do your first a years stay could involve 4 border entries. Meaning 2 this year and 2 in 2020.

Your reentry permit match the visa until date stamp. When you reenter Oct your stamp will be until Oct 30..

Read ubonjoe post #1. It explains what you need to do.

Yes but you will still need the reentry permit. That permit allows you exit los and reenter.

Not sure about your plan but not my business. Your applying for an ed visa. I assume it has classes to attend. However after 2 weeks into ed  visa you fly home for couple of weeks.

As I mentioned earlier there are many ways for trouble free extended stay in Thailand without the cost and trouble of ed visa.

A re-entry permit will only keep the 90 day entry valid from the non-ed visa. When you enter the country you will be stamped in to the same day that you got from the visa.

You have to apply for a extension at a immigration office to get a 90 day extension at a immigration office.

Not sure how you will be able to keep getting your extensions with a trip home during each 90 day extension. You have to have proof of attending classes to get the extensions.

You have to attend classes 2 hours a day 4 days a week.
