Expat held over US murder charges

A court on Thursday issued an extradition order for a Canadian man facing murder charges in the United States, saying there was clear evidence against him.

Suspect Matthew Alexander McGowan, who was wanted in the US for a fatal shooting in September 2017 in Florida, had 30 days to appeal against the order, the court said.

McGowan had been in detention at the Bangkok Remand Prison since he was arrested in November 2018 at the US request.

As McGowan did not give his consent to be sent to the US, the authorities detained him while requesting the Thai court considered the extradition case.

US prosecutors said a bullet, reportedly matching those used in the murder, was found in McGowan's car and CCTV showed the car arriving at the murder scene.

The court ordered him to be detained pending the extradition, which would take place after 30 days.

Fair enough, get rid of the garbage ... all for it. Only thing that is annoying is that the law abiding ones amongst us that don't commit crime and do everything right get treated with the same indifferent brush by officialdom regardless of what we do or how much of a benefit to Thailand we are.
