A family in Chiang Mai have told the media that they have had to sell the furniture to pay for the care of a relative who is still in a coma after five months.

Sanook described Wirawan, 26 as "Sleeping Beauty". While six months pregnant she went to have a massage at a traditional shop in Chiang Mai but suffered a seizure and lost the baby.

Her uncle Chaiwat, 54, said that the massage parlor has only given the family 20,000 baht. Her care has cost 300,000 baht to date.

They have pawned a vehicle and sold the wardrobe and a washing machine and now they want the parlor to come up with more money.

Negotiations were taking place yesterday with the head of a senior citizens' group who promised to help the family with 30,000 baht and the chief of the traditional massage association in the city who said that 40,000 baht was the best they could do. The police were also present.

Dissatisfied the family of Wirawan are planning to go above the heads of the sluggish local police and file a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division and the Prime Minister's Office.

Lt-Col Anek Chaiyawong, chief of the Phu Ping Ratchaniwet police said that the investigation has taken time as it involved medical issues. But his investigators were ready to press criminal charges for negligence.

The family has claimed that involvement of a local politician with a share in the massage business has resulted in additional problems.

Eh... how does a seizure relate to having a massage at the age of 26 again? Besides that pregnant massages are always on own risk, anywhere.
Sounds to me like bad luck as happens everywhere, all the time, and the classic Thai move to extract money elsewhere with lies because of coming short?
Then play the hi-so stopped me card and cry in the media.

The country of innocent & drama queens. There are ten thousands of Thais we could feel sorry for if they also came in the news.
