Translations for UK Visa application

Featured Replies

When providing translations for documents in Thai, in support of a UK visa application, the UK Visa website says that:

Quote

Each translated document must contain:

  • confirmation from the translator that it is an accurate translation of the original document
  • the date of the translation
  • the translator’s full name and signature
  • the translator’s contact details

However, I thought I saw a post from someone saying they have to be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Can anyone confirm which is correct - the website saying only the translator needs to confirm the accuracy, or the MFA certification? Anyone have actual, real-world experience of what is acceptable?

Thanks.

You do not need MFA certification. I recently applied for a visa for my wife, and I submitted many translations. None were MFA certified.

Visa granted.

Thanks, that's a  load off my mind. I've just found out we need some additional documents translated and I don't have time to get MFA certification before the appointment.
