travelling wilbury
Can anyone think why a big road improvement scheme from had chow samran to cha am is taking place The existing 2 lane road carrying at a peak 200 cars an hour and few trucks is being conveted into 4 lanes at obvious huge cost as in most places 1-2 meters of soil/rock have to be built up along with about 9 new bridges over waterways 3 new (less than a year) sluce gate structures will have to be rebuilt and dozens of illegal shops and several complete houses moved . As an engineer i fail to see the need for this construction .as i travel this road almost daily and have never seen much traffic of any kind it is a puzzle to me why this expence is justified. .the press always tells people thailand is a poor country but this is the 3rd such scheme in the area the last finishing this year to make the a section of the equally deserted had chow samram-phetcharburi road into 4 lanes for a part of the distance. All looks like wasting money to me
