Hi.  Looking for a supplier for plastic sheets (roof) and insect proof netting for the sides of greenhouse. Particular looking for the channel with the Z wires, they are fixed to the greenhouse frame which then secure the plastic and netting. I understand most DIY stores have plastic sheeting and netting. However it’s either too thin, or the netting holes are too big to stop insects. Appreciate if anyone has knowledge of a supplier for this type of material

We managed to source a greenhouse supplier in Bangkok. Ordered the .200 micron plastic, 32 mesh size insect netting and the channel with the Z wire. Delivery on Tuesday ????????. Now can finish the project ????????

Using this kind of mesh netting was able to successfully grow tomatoes in Hawaii in the cooler months. No white fly and fruit fly problems, no spraying. This was a commercial operation, I was a farm hand. Biggest problem was the occasional severe wind storm. Good luck.

A few pictures of the finished greenhouse. Installed some cool mist sprayers inside to help control the temperature. These are controlled by a 12v solenoid valve and a 20 times a day on/off timer switch.

Looks like you've gone to a great deal of trouble to build your greenhouse and it looks great. The best of luck with whatever your planning to grow in it. Last year I bought 'ridged plastic sheeting' from a local building supply firm, which came in 6m lengths. This was used to replace the green horticultural netting on top of my 6m x 6m car port and I was very pleasantly surprised as to how much heat it keeps off the vehicle underneath whilst still letting lots of light through, and of course it now makes it waterproof whilst allowing good air circulation around the vehicle.

Hi, we built it ourselves.

 

Have friends who are commercial greenhouse growers, so built to their design, however smaller in scale to there’s. The plastic roofing, insect side/end netting, channel and Z wires was 12k. We use 0.20 plastic and 32 mesh netting. You can reduce cost if go with thinner plastic or larger size mesh. The steel was galvanised coated and cost 13k. In truth we went a bit over the top with the amount of steel we used and the sizes of it. Believe the structure will stand a force 8 hurricane ????

You could use less less steel and get away with maybe 9 to 10k baht costs.

 

If you had to hire a welder, then should be no more than a couple of days work. 

 

The cool mist sprayers are 80 baht each from Global home, and the 12v timer and solenoid valve was around 800 baht.

Is the black fitting a water filter?

Yes, it’s a 120 mesh screen filter. We use water from our well bore, and occasionally get small grains of sand in it. The cool mist sprayers have a very fine jets, so would easily block up with any sand partials

Hi there the 12V timer and solenoid is the one unit in the box?  And the 2 wires go to a separate 12v battery?  I will have swing fans with water misters mounted at the front but don't want the misters on till the temperature switch turns on the fan and then only 2 - 3 minutes at a time with 20 or more minutes between cycles.  Of course the Wohan China Virus has put the brakes on so it could be a month or 2 before it's erected! Roof trusses and uprights all done.

The solenoid valve is in the box connected to the water supply Inlet with outlet going to the shade house. I installed a 2 core cable back from the shade house to a building (approx 50ft), where I have the timer installed. Instead of using a battery, we bought a small cheap power reducer. 220v input x 12v output. This is plugged into A power socket, the timer connects to the 12v output, with the wire from the timer connecting to the solenoid valve. You can still get things from the internet market out of China, just had a 3 lever hydraulic control arrive. (Fast delivery considering the problems going on in the world) just cleaned the box and item before handling.
