BANGKOK, 21 June 2019 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha delivered a speech, entitled ’the Future of Thailand and ASEAN’, during the fifth Bloomberg ASEAN Business Summit. The premier confirmed that Thailand, as chair of ASEAN this year, has had the potential and is prepared in all aspects to make progress alongside the ASEAN community.

Thailand has gone through restive situations and solved obstacles to national development, such as the illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing and human trafficking, as well as facilitated doing business to upgrade the country’s competitiveness. Over the past five years, the government has restored confidence and promoted sustainable economic development in accordance with a 20-year national strategy.

As chair of ASEAN, Thailand is looking to promote sustainability in all respects. The ASEAN Summit aims to achieve success in steering strategies for the promotion of connectivity in trade, investment, tourism and electronic systems and the creation of sustainability in the development of the grassroots economy and improvement in people’s welfare.

Many of the delegates fell asleep during his very boring waffle, many others left abruptly to go vomit.????????????????

Never in many years has so much waffle been spouted so so long by anybody.

Meanwhile a staunch follower of little p (Steven 100) was overheard singing you are my hero.

We have no unhappiness. It was our mission to return happiness to our people - and we have done that.

I'm soooo happy to hear that!

Many ASEAN countries already have authoritarian governments.  How is Thailand's version any greater than their's.  They save safer roads, and some have better educational systems.  Really do not see what Thailand offers that would worth looking at.

Indeed. It'd even arguably true that all SEA governments are authoritarian, even Singapore's.

The main differences are what 2nd language the Chinese leaders who own and control everything speak.

Oh, and what traditional clothes they wear sometimes. ????

If this is bonafide and a correct translation then Thailand is in for a ride. To the Elite and the Junta, he is correct. Those Thai people are happy. How can he even say he returned happiness to the Thai people. He should be up on charges and stripped of his status for false statements.

We have set up new laws to make sure that democracy and order can flourish.

Yes the contrived definition of Junta Democracy which is a farce.

No person is untouched by our laws.

Gotta believe that. But then again is a false statement as well. Him and his cronies are untouchable as they can interpret each situation and law and twist it to their advantage..

No one is free from our order.

Yes, the perpetual iron fist slapping out hurts all the commoners and opposition.

This is Thai democracy.

Neither the PM or the 20 year national strategy has any legitimacy. The strategy was created by one particular General in a military junta government (which at this moment is still in existence) and now needs to be presented to a democratically elected government for ratification and approval or disapproval.

It was probably contrived by the Prem council. A bunch of Generals.

Sometimes I am gullible. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least with this guy. Yeah, soon as the new government is really sworn in and active, then we foreigners must tone it down a bit. I would think they will have worm filters in the net looking for key words.

My expectation is that in future years, when applying for a visa they will look at your "social media" history as part n parcel! - Paranoid?

They are doing a not dissimilar thing in China now with WE chat!

The "world" is quickly transforming into an out n out Police state, for our own safety off course!

Well put. Yes this man will one day have a statue made of his likeness. Now whatever that looks like is up to your own imagination.
