Liquids, gels, sprays and food banned from Thai airports and airplanes from yesterday

Sanook said that D-Day for new Civil Aviation Authority bans on a whole host of foods, liquids and cosmetic products came in yesterday.

 

All items must be under 100 milliliters or they cannot come into passenger areas or be carried on planes. 

 

They include toothpaste, shampoo, sauce, jam and even perfume.

 

The ban applies to all 28 airports under the CAA authority. Amphawan Wannago was in video conference with airports regarding implementation of the ban on Friday.

 

Signage in Thai shows that popular foods such as curry and "nam prik" (a condiment) are also banned if in sufficient quantity. 

 

Each passenger must also have less than a combined total of 1,000 milliliters of such products. Products must also be in sealed containers specifying the quantity. 

 

Items on the banned list include:

 

Water, drinks, soup, syrup, jam, stew, sauce, nam prik, foods in sauce, creams, lotions, cosmetics, oil, perfume, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, spray, foam, mascara, lipstick and lip balm.

And we all have to thank the Islamic terrorist for that, who made traveling a pain in the ass with all the security scrutinise time consuming and the billions that it costs the airlines which we the travelers ultimately pay for... 

It ain't actually flying that I don't like, it's that they seem to do everything they can to make passing through airports as miserable an experience as possible!☹️

 

"Passengers will be able to carry liquids and laptops through security at Heathrow inside their hand luggage after new security scanners are installed".

 

In other news, there's now a smoking room at London Heathrow T2, whilst Thailand bans smoking in all airports!

This is just hand luggage right, I thought this was the case for years?

I have carried frozen food e.g. cheese, curries etc on domestic flights many times - now seems even that is stopped  ????

In the rest of the civilised world yes, but Thailand being Thailand, thought they had the right to be different as they were Thai.

Hells Bells! Krispy Kreme donut outlets inside airports will immediately be going out of business!

Yes right, for all international flights and at some domestic airports it has been the case for years.

 

This story is just saying that now it will be enforced at all airports.

Just more confiscated stuff for the airport staff to take home

Big deal. If I have too much I check my bag anyway.

I'm not sure about that... The above "ban" -- which isn't really a "ban" because the article appears to say items under 100 ml are still allowed -- appears to target liquid and semi-liquid items. And I don't see any mention of SOLID food items there like cheese.  But who knows!

The way I understood the prior restrictions was...

 

You could take as much of those kinds of liquid and semi liquid items into your checked luggage as you wanted.... But your carry on luggage was restricted to individual items not exceeding 100 ml in size, and total quantity able to fit into a 1 quart Ziplock type bag.

 

If the news report above is accurate, they seem to be extending that same kind of basic restrictions now to all luggage including the check-in type.

What are you talking about...the same rule has been in Thailand since it came in all over. It was a wordwide new law, obviously.

I have a different read based on the news report above...

 

I'm reading to mean the restrictions that have been in effect for Carry On luggage for a long time are now being extended to all luggage, including checked bags....

 

But from the OP article, which doesn't even address the existing restrictions, it's kinda hard to tell.

No they are not. get it right man, it's not hard, really.

Could be wrong, but I don't think solid, non-sauced food items like cheese and Krispy Kreme donuts are likely to be affected by this...except if you're talking about nacho sauce and/or creme filled KK donuts!!!

Islamic terrorism was/is a response to what?

There is no chicken or the egg mystery here.

The consequences of Islamic terrorism are ultimately a self inflicted misery on the West.

'passenger areas' 'CARRIED on planes' that refers to hand luggage.
