A newly-graduated student was found dead in his condominium room with a lit stove and a suicide note in Samut Prakan’s Bang Bo district.

Friends could not contact Jiraphat Lin-anuphawa, 24, since Friday and came to his room Tuesday morning only to find his body.

His room on the sixth floor on Soi Abac was littered with empty beer cans and bottles.

In his suicide note, Jiraphat apologised to his mother, grandmother and friends for being unable to remain in their life, and blamed himself for having to make a decision to take his own life.

His friends told police that Jiraphat had recently graduated from his university pending a commencement ceremony. He became depressed after breaking up with his girlfriend, according to the friends.

Strange how people are different, the last few breakups I had were followed by euphoria ????

me too

I’ve never really understood the girlfriend breakup suicide ... onwards and upwards should be the motto. Poor kid, and very sad for his family, who know doubt would have been very proud about his graduation.

In this country it's more likely he couldn't see a decent working future for himself and earning enough to move away from Mum and start his own family.    For the average Joe here what is there to look forward to ?

Very little, unless you are born into the 1%.

The period of time around the last year of university can be very stressful and "Senior Year Depression" is not uncommon.   Finishing school is a major life change.   I would suspect that may have been his problem and that would have affected his relationship, or his inability to continue in a relationship.

You got a point there, being born a male is tough as you have to become the bread winner at some point.

With a dodgy bachelors or master degree not much chance of a good job here, if you didn't pay attention in language class not much on offer abroad either. You can't even go and work in a bar as a last resort as we so many females doing the "fall-back" occupation!

RIP
