Democrat Party MP Korn Chatikavanij on Saturday condemned the attack of anti-junta activist Sirawith Seritiwat and called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to order police to expedite the investigation.

Korn, a deputy Democrat leader, posted on his Facebook wall that he condemned all kinds of violence.

“My subordinates used to be attacked when we were the opposition. Police were not serious in making arrests in that case and in other cases,” Korn said in the post.

“This time, I would like to see the prime minister order police to work seriously. We have seen from lessons in the past that the use of violence did not result in a good ending.”

Korn also called for members of the public to be tolerable to different opinions.

“I would like to call on all politicians to be patient and help prevent the incident from escalating into a situation,” Korn added.

Sounds as if the police...'working seriously'...is exactly what's happening.

Hope he was looking in the mirror when he was busy issuing that condemnation.

Thailand wouldn't be where it is today had he had the courage to side with democracy back in 2014.

Yep, and to add insult to the jury, he voted for the dictator, he is therefore not to be taken seriously. No democrat should ever vote for such a person.

I honestly don't know how 'Democrats' who supported the junta have the gall and shamelessness to show themselves in public.

Despicable bunch - down to their very DNA !

Actually it was the party leadership who, after faffing about trying to play both sides, who voted to join the PPRP alliance.

And the party members with a conscience quit the party after that vote.

I note Korn is not one of those members that quit.

This fact says what about his character?

At least a little of the blood on this kids shirt is a consequence of Korns' gutlessness exhibited many times over many years.

He could have abstained or voted for the other guy, but he didn't, says it all. At least abhisit did not vote for Prayuth, and I believe vacated his seat, apparently the only 'democrat" in that party with a backbone !

Yes. Unfortunately, in vacating his seat he ensured that it will be allocated to a more reliable candidate. I don;t know if a "party list" MP can "cross the floor of the house", but if they can, that would have been a more effective statement.

Abhisit quit as PM designate before the "election" and after the Democrats joined the government coalition he resigned his MP seat, I assume that it was swiftly allocated to another "party list" MP

True, however I can see where he is coming from, he simply didn't want any part in this, and I cannot disagree with him. Maybe I would've voted for Thanathorn and then vacated my seat ????

I think he actually abstained, but not 100% sure.
