Foreign tourists in Pai vandalise Thai flags, anger locals

Also in most civilized countries without xenophobes, nationalists and supremacists you will hardly find any pieces of cloth (flags) around which you could “disrespect”.
Not sure what the obsession in some countries is with hanging flags everywhere?
As a rule of thumb one can easily observe in countries that are backward, nationalist, xenophobic, corrupt. fascist, communist and dictatorships the more flags one will find around everywhere.

It's pretty simple really. Flags are a mental anchor to which whoever happens to need cannon fodder attaches the triggers of the mindwashed to. So regimes that have an indoctrination machine (Thai schools) and populations with low IQ are the most affected. Those with rational thought see through the "Follow the flag to chop off the heads of the guys with the other flag" - Shogun tradition. Some of the West got rid of it when the quality of education improved.

There's a surprising element of honesty in play here though, with them having not one but two flags to latch onto. One country, two systems.

Here's something to read for those interested on how to make your own flag and raise your own army of Pavlov's dogs: https://www.amazon.com/Brainwashing-science-thought-control-Landmark/dp/0198798334/ . Should be obligatory reading at primary school.

Very fortunate indeed that they had enough cash on them to be able to achieve such a conclusion.

While this is a very stupid thing to do [by the tourists] it good to see commonsense prevail and the police recognising that this isn't targeted vandalism or intention to cause offense - its just kids

In my opinion if you can't go to another country and show a small measure of respect to the locals you shouldn't be there in the first place.

I think they should've been deported and barred entry to the country for something like 5 years, the stupid little punks.

You most certainly are one of those tolerant liberals I hear so much about...

The total disrespect that some clowns show for their hosts is truly shocking. Being drunk is not an excuse. They should not have gotten off so lightly.

But other people here say it doesn’t matter. It’s only a piece of cloth or a rag.

Oh...just a nonsense bit of cloth. So the folks here who call flags just pieces of cloth or rags would have no problem with red star, hammer and sickle communist flags or red and white and black swastika nazi flags.

No problem with red t shirts with a black swastika in a white circle or red star hammer and sickle. It’s just cloth.

I bet they’re the first ones who would complain very loudly.

If you apply that logic to all things on this planet, NOTHING or nobody needs respect or honour. It is just another thing or just another person.

Well, that’s how some people here think.

They think flags need no respect. They’re just pieces of cloth.

What would you say to them?

I'd say nothing because flags usually don't talk.

However I'm pretty sure some are hearing voices from them.

Or think they hear...

If one Google "Flag protocol", you will find many articles regarding Flag Etiquette, Guidelines for Display of the Flag, Honoring the Stars and Stripes, British Flag Protocol etc etc.

Now it seems there are many who seem to be very naive about these pieces of cloth that seems only to flutter in the wind for no apparent reason? Or...
