The small town of Hawkins has settled down since a volcano of supernatural horrors from the Upside Down engulfed the young heroes of Stranger Things, which returns to Netflix for a third season on July 5.

 

From their first tentative kiss at the Snow Ball at last season’s finale, sweethearts El and Mike (Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard) have progressed to greedily face-eating, to the utter consternation of El’s guardian, Hopper.

 

How can he get the pair to cool it? Joyce (Winona Ryder) counsels negotiation but Hopper favours a firmer response.

 

“Why don’t I just kill Mike? I’m the chief of police, I can cover it up.”
