Multiple entry visa expired after three month, is my work permit still valid

Featured Replies

Good afternoon!

I had a multiple entry visa, expiring on 12/06 and I left Thailand a few days before. I had no chance to extend my visa before leaving the country. My work permit still goes on until 2020. I will be back to Thailand on 8th July. Can I assume the work permit is still valid and re-apply for multiple entry visa?

Thank you

Technically if you do not have a valid non immigrant visa entry your work permit will no longer be valid. It would be best if you could get an new visa and enter the country using it.

You cannot apply for an extension of stay based on working unless you are already on a non immigrant entry. If you enter Thailand without a valid unexpired visa (or reentry permit) you will receive a 30-day visa exempt (tourist) entry. While there are ways to convert the tourist entry to a non immigrant entry in country, it would be better to get a non imm B visa while abroad. If you return without one,I believe you will need to apply for the work permit again once you have a non immigrant entry.

Thanks UbonJoe and Britim. There are some pending questions on my employment through this employer and/or a new one, so very unlikely I can get a non-immigrant B in less than 3 days now.. Let's enjoy the procedure again!
