A 22-year-old Thai man has been arrested for allegedly luring 22 young female Facebook users to click on a link he had created to steal their passwords, Provincial Police Region 5 Investigation Commander Pol Maj General Surapol Prembutr said on Tuesday.

Police say Natthakorn Nimreung contacted the victims via Facebook, claiming photos of them naked had been posted online and prompting them to click on the provided link to see evidence. He then allegedly hijacked the victims' Facebook accounts and asked their friends for “loans” of money worth Bt415,520 in total.

Natthakorn, who reportedly confessed to the crimes, was arrested at his home on Kanchanapisek Road in Bangkok's Bang Khae district. Police also found Bt50,000 cash and the cellphone and computer he allegedly used to commit the fraud. He was taken to face justice in Chiang Mai, where the victims filed the complaints.

Stealing passwords to get access to facebook friends then convincing them to send money to some mans account. Is quite elaborate and complicated. Why these Thais who have enough brains to come up with these schemes. Don't use their knowledge for something legal. Programming alone to steal passwords is not something an untrained man. But i guess the fast easy buck wins always here.

Pretty easy actually, with all the Keylogger software out there. Just get a free trial, paid subscription, or more likely download for free via torrents.

Get somebody to click on a link that you send them, then there you go, all their keystrokes are logged on your program for you to see.

It was probably a phishing page with a fake facebook login form which actually easy to setup. If you're talking about a remote access keylogger then that's pretty convoluted since you'd have to obfuscate an .exe and prey your victim was silly enough to download and run it. Unless it was utilizing some kind of browser exploit to automatically download and install it which would be genuinely impressive. Even then though, most people use phones these days so a phishing form is the way to go.
