The Meteorological Department on Thursday warned residents of several provinces to brace themselves for heavy rains to be unleashed by the influence of tropical storm Mun that was due to make landfall in Vietnam Thursday morning.

In a special warning issued at 5am Thursday, the department said the storm was over the Gulf of Tonkin at 4am and making landfall in upper Vietnam, 65 km southeast of Hanoi, at a latitude 20.7 degree north and longitude 106.4 degree east with maximum sustained winds about 65 km/hr.

The storm is moving northwest at a speed 15 km/hr and is expected to be downgraded to a tropical depression and low pressure cell shortly after it makes landfalll.

The department said the influence of the storm is expected to result in torrential rains with strong winds over Thailand, especially in the North, the Northeast, the Central and the East regions as follows

4 July 2019

North: Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun and Tak

North East: Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Khon Kaen Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima

Central: Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri and Saraburi

East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat

I doubt the veracity of anything that comes out of that establishment

Why? just look at the radar feeds on their website, all they can do is "forecast" what the weather "may" do - its not an exact science, off course - they have to give worse case scenario, dry here in the North East so far!

Good representation. It shows why it is over for our place.

Overcast but dry.

Agree, rained through the night in Sakon and I think that was it!

Nakhon Pathom an hour west of Bkk had showers all day Wednesday, Wednesday night & light showers through Thursday. Today Friday dry but very dull sky.

Just some overnight drizzle and a bit of a breeze and cloudy in Udon on Thursday, and Friday a typical sunny morning and cloudy afternoon. What storm?
