webfact Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Two women arrested for people smuggling By The Nation Picture: Manager Online Two Thai women were arrested Monday morning in Songkhla’s Rattaphum district for allegedly smuggling eight undocumented Myanmar migrants. Police said a Mitsubishi Expander was intercepted by a team of border patrol police and Army troops on the Asia highway in Moo 2 village of Tambon Khun Roo. The authorities found six Myanmar men and two Myanmar women crammed in the back seats and the space behind the back seats of the SUV. One of the Thai women was the driver and the other the navigator. The two said they were hired to transport the Myanmar migrants from the Khok Loi intersection in Tambon Takua Thung in Phang Nga to Singha Nakhon district in Songkhla from where migrants would be taken across the border to Malaysia. The two Thais said they were paid Bt1,100 for each smuggled individual and had successfully made ten such trips to date. Police said the eight came from Ko Song in Myanmar.
