0-A Multiple entry visa

Featured Replies

Hi, I’ve been living in Thailand for almost 2 years on an 0-A multiple entry visa. My last entry was by land from Laos on the 11th August 2018 and admitted until 10th August 2019. The visa enter before is ‘21st September 2018’. But I had to leave unexpectedly to return to the UK to see my eye specialist on 28th June 2019. I would have done my extension in August. As my visa had expired I returned to the UK on 14th July 2019 with a 30 day tourist stamp, admitted until 12th August 2019. In hindsight, and doing research on the Form, I have a feeling I should’ve applied for a re-entry permit to keep my status going, but I find the immigration rules very confusing and only recently came across the Thai Visa forum. My question is, what do I do now. Will immigration in Ubon Ratchathani, where I live, grant me the years extension: I can meet all of the financial requirements. Or do I have to return to the UK to renew the visa? This is a route I would really rather not go down, but if so, are there any other options for me to stay longer here in Thailand. I intend leaving Thailand two or three times in the next year. Many thanks in advance for your help and advice

You should of gotten a re-entry permit before leaving the country to keep you permit to stay you had valid.

You would first have to a apply for 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration. You would need at least 15 days remaining on your 30 day visa exempt entry or the 30 day extension of it.

You will need to show proof the 800k baht in the bank came from abroad. Or proof of a couple of months of at least 65k baht being transferred into the country from abroad.

General requirements are here: https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_80

Then during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa you could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement. The 800k baht would need to be in the bank for 2 months on the date you apply. Or another month or 2 of 65k baht transfers.

All the above can done here at Ubon immigration.

Great job Ubonjoe explaining the OP's options. I'm sure that will be helpful to many others as well.

Mention this just in case proving the 800k came from overseas....

If you obtain the non o at consulate outside Thailand then that is not required.
