EGAT reports highest electricity usage since 2006

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) reports the highest electricity usage in Thailand since 2006.

The Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Mr. Kraisri Kanasuth (ไกรสีห์ กรรณสูต), reported on the current electricity demand in the nation. The EGAT governor said that two incidents of extremely high electiricy usage, called peaks have occured since the beginning of 2007.

Officials report that at 2:30 PM on March 14, 446.66 million units of electricity, measured at 21,374.6 megawatts, was used by the public. The second highest peak was recorded on March 13. Mr. Kraisri said that the phenomenon was probably due to hot weather, and more similiar incidents are expected to occur as temperature rises.

EGAT asks that the public expend electricity in an efficient manner, in order to conserve fuel used to generate electricity, and save on the consumer's own spendings.

Are there brown outs? I noted that some of my fluorescent lights took a bit longer to come on. Low voltage is not the healthiest thing for computers.
