Prayut relaxed about pressure on new government in coming debate

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha displayed a carefree attitude on Wednesday when asked about the pressure his new government could expect to face when its policies are outlined to parliament on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, police have ordered a 50-metre off-limits area around the TOT building in northern Bangkok that have been used as a makeshift parliament house, on Thursday and Friday. The building will be cordoned off to prevent possible disturbances either from supporters or opponents of the government.

Prayut said he was not worried about the upcoming event, insisting that it was a new premiership and a new government. “There is always the right and the left, agreements and disagreements on all issues. This is democracy,” he said.

The PM added that he had already met with ministers who were likely to be targeted by the opposition, especially in the education and transport portfolios. Responding to criticism that the government’s policies were too broad, he suggested his opponents needed to better understand the word.

“The term ‘policies’, if they understand it, then there will be no problem,” he added.

Prayut said he had not decided whether to join the Palang Pracharat Party (PPP), as Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan did few days ago.

He also shrugged off criticism in the media and by opponents about the government’s choice of a resort in Nakhan Ratchasima province as the venue of the PPP meeting that is facing a police investigation on land encroachment. He said a parallel probe by the Natural Resources Ministry was already underway.

It'll be a surprise if he even attends any of these debates. His handlers know he is a liability.

His speeches even after the bulldozing of an election are the same hollow BS that has neither substance nor any semblence of style to mask said substance deficiency

He forgot to say Prayut's democracy, meaning it's my way or no way

Elected representatives will be worried for their accountability on policies pledges. He can relax since he is not elected but appointed by the senators and crony political parties.

When I read about our illustrious leader displaying a 'carefree attitude' and seeing him smiling, for some reason it reminds of Inspector Dreyfus in the Pink Panther, after being released from the mental institution:

Of course he's relaxed and carefree. What does he have to worry about? Criticism? Just shrug it off.

Safely in the knowledge that police, senators, 'outraged social activists' and courts are ready and waiting to do their thing.

It is so obvious. He hasn't morphed into a cuddly avuncular figure. If he felt under threat then all hell would be let loose. Same old p!ss in a new bottle, as we will shortly see.

What's this garbage about a "new premiership and new government"?  Has Prayut forgot that he forced his leadership on Thailand over 5 years ago and set up a system to ensure he and his chosen military personnel will continue in ultimate power?

But I can understand why he's not worried. Dictators usually don't worry until the masses are approaching their residence with pitchforks, clubs and guns.

Best massdebater! Sound vile.

I don't think there's any need to put in in a vial.

The one who can push the "C" button any time.

He has always been the boss so everything he says or do in this day and age is absolutely in perfect order. Or who wants to challenge? A punch to the mouth is waiting.
