I have been investing for 30 + years.  I now invest in London, Amsterdam and the SET.  I only invest in USA indirectly via Investment Trusts.

I am interested in sharing views with like minded investors in Chiang Mai.

You list the geography but not the asset class.. You mean bonds, debt, equity (listed, pink sheets / OTC) private company investments, crypto, etc etc etc

That is assuming you mean financial investing ?? Recently I have invested in single malts..

Kind of a large topic, with very little to go on..

Equities only

I spread bet (usually short) equity when I see underappreciated risk.. Done well recently with DB and TSLA but I do a lot more volume betting commodities. Currently feel timing is very right for silver, used to be involved with metals retail and storage and the cycle feels lining up for a big move.

I opened a kimeng account and found the extra steps required for the evil foreigners are vague, time consuming, and just plain stupid.  More foot shooting by the Thais.  No thanks.  Did see SBI offering . 0775% commissions, and something tells me you can get straight answers in BKK.  Been trading online since Schwab Streetsmart for DOS, and a 2400 bps modem. Fidelity has 500 free ETFs, and I make some good beer money day trading some of them.  I am planning for a decent correction this quarter..

My Dad used to pick stocks in the newspaper and everyday tell us how much he would have made had he invested...on paper, he was a millionaire. Said, if he just had the money...

So, I bought his a laptop, ETrade account and opened it with $50,000.

He lost it all in 2 years.

My faith in other people as financial advisors is not good, especially that JCI company that calls me every damn week with Philippino accents.

If I'm losing it...then its me that's losing it.

Get to know the REITs and you will never, ever consider buying condos to rent out...although retail still may be a sinking ship, due to Amazon, there is an entire generation of lifelong renters that will never have the resources to buy.

I have lost an absolute fortune by not taking stock investing seriously. People who make money at it are good at their job and have the right investment programmes.

Back in 2008 though I was in the gold rush, a bit of bravado and showing off because my gold is sitting in both a London and a Swiss bank vault.

After 11 years, the nominal increase in value has almost been negated by a monthly vault holding fee.

I can imagine you are thinking it must be a substantial load.....truth is my total gold stock is about the size of my mobile phone, probably less!
